A Major First in Pancreatic Cancer Treatment đź’™
This is health news worth sharing.
On May 31, results from the RASOLUTE 302 trial were presented at ASCO. Less than three months later, on August 26, the FDA approved daraxonrasib, the first targeted therapy approved for pancreatic cancer.
For patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer with a KRAS G12 mutation, daraxonrasib nearly doubled median overall survival compared with chemotherapy: 13.2 months vs. 6.7 months.
May 31: Data presented.
August 26: FDA approved.
That is significant progress, and potentially meaningful news for patients and their families.
What should you do with information like this?
If you or someone you love is being treated for pancreatic cancer, ask the oncology team about genetic and biomarker testing and whether KRAS testing has been performed. New targeted treatments are not appropriate for everyone, but knowing your tumor’s biomarkers can help determine which treatment options may be available.
