❄️ Why Does Eczema Flare in the Winter? ❄️

If you or your child have eczema (atopic dermatitis), you may notice symptoms get worse during the colder months—and there’s a reason for that.

Winter triggers for eczema include:
🧊 Cold, dry air that pulls moisture from the skin
🔥 Indoor heating, which lowers humidity
🚿 Hot showers that strip the skin’s natural oils
🧤 Heavy fabrics (like wool) can cause overheating, sweating and irritation, all of which can irritate sensitive skin

When the skin barrier becomes dry and weakened, it’s easier for eczema to flare—leading to itching, redness, and discomfort.

Winter skin tips for eczema-prone skin:
✔️ Moisturize daily (thick creams or ointments work best)
✔️ Use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers
✔️ Take lukewarm—not hot—showers
