Menopause …this isn’t just for women as it can affect the entire household.
You’ll notice in my writing that I’m a bit passionate about this subject because it is so misunderstood.
I have found through the years that there is a steady trend with many women hitting their highs with menopause in the summertime and with the heat and change of environment.
The lack of menopause awareness stems from deep rooted cultural stigmas, and most definitely a systemic failure in training with family practitioners.
When we were young women, we know all about coming into womanhood and at least they do some education about that, but I’m sure many of you have stories of young girls that didn’t expect it and were thoroughly embarrassed when it happened during school hours or in public.
The mortification , the embarrassment and the aftermath is almost unbearable when that life change happens unexpectedly.
Fast forward to menopause.
It can be an absolute nightmare!
Ovarian function and estrogen decline rapidly that impact aging, skin health, mental health, strength and sleep. It causes severe unexplained mood swings, depression, migraines, hot flashes, and even chronic inflammation.
There is a huge medical education gap, and it is under represented in medical school curriculums. Only the specialty OB/GYN practitioners know a little bit more about menopause.
We also had a huge controversy about hormone
therapy/ replacement, and then later found there were serious health risks.
Personally… I was very upset about HRT because it involves estrogen that is called Premarin and it’s made from the urine of pregnant mares. ( horses ) This therapy became so popular and lucrative that there were large plots of land, holding large breed horses in standing room only, such as Belgian horses that they would constantly impregnate, and then destroy the babies/ foals, in order to keep up with the demand.
PMU mares ( pregnant mares urine ) is still a thing today.
Due to the outrage and mistreatment, the farms in North America were shifted overseas to China.
The horses were distraught with the babies being removed, constantly being pregnant, devices constantly collecting urine, water restriction, severe pain in udder with mastitis.
OK, I’ll stop with that because obviously this is a sore subject for me ☹️
There are synthetic alternatives now available.
Regarding menopause, most doctors dismiss the symptoms rather than offer safe and updated treatment.
There are many holistic and natural remedies that can absolutely help Make things more bearable.
Most women are left on their own to try and survive menopause.😢
Spouses often struggle to understand menopause because they have no biological frame of reference and lack of education on the subject.
Society treats it as an invisible and taboo topic.
Navigating this transition can cause strain, confusion and a very unhealthy household on top of the symptoms that you are experiencing.
