🌹 WHO SAYS YOUR TATTOOS HAVE TO START FROM SCRATCH?! 🌹
One of the things I LOVE about tattooing is getting to build on artwork that's already there!
This was a fun little walk-in from the October St. Cloud Downtown Art Crawl, and instead of starting a completely new design, we decided to add something special to an existing tattoo. 🖤
My client already had a beautiful flower with a cute little ladybug, and we found the perfect opportunity to add one of my custom rose flash designs right above it!
We worked with the existing placement, kept the floral theme flowing, and gave her tattoo collection a little room to grow. 🌸
Because here's the thing…
You don't always need a completely blank canvas to create something new!
Sometimes it's about finding the right design to complement what you already have. Matching the style, working with the placement, and figuring out how to make separate tattoos feel like they belong together.
And the best part?!
We're already talking about planning her HALF SLEEVE! 😍
You know how much I love a project that keeps growing, so I'm pretty excited to see where we take this one next!

This is why I love custom tattoos so much.

What might look like a colorful Disney tattoo to someone passing by is actually an entire family's story. Love, loss, remembrance, joy, and the people who make our lives meaningful—all wrapped into one piece of art.

And I want to share something else that's really important to me.

**It is ABSOLUTELY okay to cry in my tattoo chair.** 🥹🖤

Sometimes the stories behind our tattoos aren't easy to tell. Sometimes they're filled with grief, love, happiness, or memories that bring all those emotions rushing back at once.

You don't have to hold any of that back with me.

Just a fair warning though… **I'm probably going to cry right along with you.** 😂😭

And there's a pretty good chance your appointment is going to end with a great big hug.

Because you're not just another appointment on my calendar. You're a person with a story, and when you trust me enough to share that story and let me turn it into something permanent, that means the world to me.

🌸 WHEN ONE FLORAL TATTOO TURNS INTO A WHOLE GARDEN! 🌸
Another repeat client back in my chair, and OMG, I absolutely LOVE how this one came together! 🖤
We originally started with these beautiful flowers flowing down her arm, and she loved them so much that we decided… why stop there?! 😂
So we brought the design up and over her shoulder, then created two matching floral pieces across her chest!
And here's one of my favorite parts of this project: we worked with her existing tattoo instead of working around it.
We incorporated what she already had, matched the shading, and made sure the new flowers flowed naturally with the older artwork. The goal was to make everything feel like it belonged together, even though the tattoos were created at different times.
I had SO much fun playing with the petals, soft black-and-grey shading, delicate leaves, and the way everything follows the natural curves of her shoulders and chest.
And can I just say…
I freaking LOVE tattooing flowers!!! 😍🌸
There's something so satisfying about taking a floral design and giving it movement, depth, and just enough contrast to really bring those blooms to life.
One of the coolest things about having repeat clients is getting to watch their tattoo ideas grow. Sometimes we start with one little piece, and before you know it, we're creating something so much bigger!

🐢 THREE LITTLE TURTLES, THREE VERY SPECIAL NAMES! 🖤
Guess who came back to my tattoo chair?! Brandy!!! 🥰
I absolutely LOVE seeing my repeat clients, especially when they come back with something meaningful they want to bring to life.
This time, we created a beautiful little tribute to her kids, featuring three adorable sea turtles swimming alongside their names—Brittany, Chase, and Carter. 🐢🐢🐢
We gave each turtle its own little personality with touches of color, then tied everything together with delicate vines, leaves, and flowing script.
I love how this design moves naturally down her arm, with just enough detail to make each little turtle stand out without overwhelming the piece.
And can we talk about how CUTE those turtles are?! 😍
One of my favorite things about tattooing is getting to build relationships with my clients. Every time someone comes back, I get to hear more of their stories, create something new, and add another little chapter to their tattoo collection.

🎉 A BIRTHDAY, A FIRST TATTOO, AND A LITTLE FAMILY HISTORY! 🖤
Another first tattoo in the books, and this time it was for my friend and fellow coworker, Mark!
Mark recently celebrated his birthday and decided it was finally time to get his very first tattoo! And I absolutely LOVE the meaning behind this one.
His kids are enrolled in a Chinese immersion program, and he chose to have their family name tattooed in Chinese characters. 🥹
How cool is that?!
Something simple, bold, and meaningful that connects him to his family and something his children are learning and experiencing together.
And can I just say how much fun it is getting to tattoo people I know from my OTHER job?! 😂 Going from working together behind computer screens to having them sitting in my tattoo chair is such a fun change of pace.
Mark did an awesome job sitting for his first tattoo, and I'm so glad I got to be the artist to make it happen!
Happy belated birthday, Mark! 🎂 Thanks for trusting me with your very first piece of ink!

💙 Sometimes a tattoo doesn’t need to disappear—it just needs to come back to life. 💚

This client came back to see me with an older blue rose that had softened and faded over the years. The goal wasn’t to completely reinvent it. We wanted to refresh it, redefine it, and bring that original rose back to life.

And there was one very important rule:

NO BLACK. 😂

Just blue and green, exactly like the original.

So I basically approached the blue ink the same way I would approach a black and grey tattoo—using different values of blue to rebuild the shadows, depth and definition throughout the petals while still letting those softer areas breathe. And I have to say… pretending blue was black was actually REALLY fun. 😂💙

We refreshed the green leaves, brought those petals forward again, and gave this older tattoo another chapter without taking away what made the original special.

And while she was here, I also got to see the floral hand tattoo we did previously fully healed! 🥹 I absolutely love how that one settled into the skin, and even more, I love hearing how much joy it brings her.

There’s something really special about having someone come back and trust me with their skin again—whether we’re creating something new or giving an old tattoo some much-needed love.

👀 SNEAK PEEK!!! 👀

I'm working on my first full sleeve tattoo with a client and OMG, I am absolutely LOVING the process we've got going. 🖤

This project has really been about building it piece by piece—bringing the individual elements together, figuring out how everything flows around the arm, and then using different textures and shading to turn all those separate pieces into one complete story.

And LOOK AT THAT SAND. 😍

This sleeve has already pushed me to play with texture, depth, transitions, backgrounds, and how completely different elements can connect without everything feeling crammed together. It's exactly the kind of project that makes my artist brain ridiculously happy. 😂

The best part?

We're not even done yet.

We still have THREE more sessions before I finally get to show you the entire finished sleeve, and I'm already dying to see everything come together.

So for now… you get a sneak peek. 👀

✨ Sometimes we start with a plan… and then we just keep adding. ✨

Another repeat client back in my chair! 🖤

This one originally started with something incredibly personal—her two-year-old daughter’s fingerprint, placed on her hand with some cute little sparkles around it.

But we decided those sparkles needed somewhere to go. 😂

So we extended them down her hand and up toward her wrist, creating this delicate little trail of stars and celestial details that ties into her existing tattoos.

And then came my favorite part…

An impromptu Minnie Mouse balloon! 🎈

Her little girl LOVES Minnie Mouse, so naturally we needed a tiny Minnie-inspired balloon floating right there among the sparkles. It wasn't part of the original plan, but those spontaneous little additions are sometimes what make a tattoo feel the most personal.

Now she gets to carry her daughter's actual fingerprint AND a little piece of something her daughter loves with her. 🥹🖤

I love watching tattoos grow like this—one appointment, one idea and one “WAIT… what if we added this?!” at a time. 😂

Sometimes someone sits in my chair and casually drops the coolest tattoo story ever. 😂

Brandy and Robin came in for matching friendship tattoos, and these two were an absolute HOOT. Brandy is a repeat client of mine, but this was Robin’s first time in my chair—and apparently I had some pretty interesting tattoo history to follow!

Robin is a veteran, and before this appointment he had nine tattoos, all done by the same tattoo artist in the Philippines using hand-poked methods.

Then he tells me the story gets even cooler.

According to Robin, the artist who tattooed him was connected to the tattoo featured in the 1982 movie An Officer and a Gentleman starring Richard Gere. And yes… we absolutely pulled up the movie in the shop. 😂

Sure enough, the opening sequence literally starts with Richard Gere’s character covering his tattoo before heading off to Officer Candidate School, and later in the movie that tattoo is identified as coming from Subic Bay, Philippines.

So after nine tattoos and one seriously cool tattoo history, #10 came from me. 🥹

And what did we add to this illustrious collection?

Matching “I’ve got Brandy’s/Robin’s Back” friendship tattoos. 😂😂

I freaking love this job. You never know what stories are going to walk through the door—or what you're going to learn while someone is sitting in your chair.

Also, we discovered An Officer and a Gentleman is definitely one of those movies where you go, “Oh! Okay! We're watching THAT now!” when you put it on at the tattoo shop. 😂 Definitely one for the grown-ups.
