🖤 Four hours of blackwork. On my own knee. Because apparently I make excellent life choices. 😂
I finally sat down and added all of the black shading to my knee piece, and I can now say from very personal experience: Lining the knee was WAY better than shading it.
Was it painful? Yep.
Did I question my decisions a few times? Also yep. 😂
Did I stop? Absolutely not.
Four hours, an Audible book, and a whole lot of determination later, I got all of the blackwork finished—and I LOVE how much the added contrast transformed this piece.
There's something really interesting about tattooing yourself, especially in a spot like the knee. You're simultaneously the artist trying to make clean, consistent decisions and the client thinking, “Okay, that one freaking hurt.” It definitely gives me a little more firsthand sympathy for everyone who sits in my chair!
Now we let this baby heal. 🖤
And for anyone considering a knee tattoo:
From personal experience, the lining wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.
The shading, however?
Rude. Very rude. 😂
