My Dear Friends and Clients,
I find myself in a strange and tender middle space right now — a place between what has been and what is still unknown. The past is over, the future has not yet arrived, and all any of us truly have is this present moment.
A quote by Viktor Frankl has been sitting closely with me these past weeks:
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Recently, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is not news I ever expected to share, and writing this leaves me feeling deeply vulnerable. At the same time, I am trying to meet this experience with openness, honesty, courage, and as much light as I can gather.
This diagnosis is undeniably challenging and frightening at times, and I want to be realistic about that. But I also recognize that moments like these invite us into deeper choices about how we move forward. So much of life can be shaped by old patterns and ways of protecting ourselves that may once have served us well. I am trying, day by day, to allow this experience to become an opportunity to grow into who I want to be now — to move forward with intention, softness, resilience, and light rather than fear alone.
One of the greatest gifts in my life has been the relationships I have built through this work. So many of you began as clients and became dear friends, people whose lives, families, stories, and hearts I have had the privilege of knowing and caring for over the years. I cannot fully express what that has meant to me. Your trust and connection have shaped my life in beautiful ways.
As many of you already know, I will need to step away from my massage practice for surgery and recovery (estimated to be 3-6 months). At this point, surgery will happen in about 2–3 weeks, and I plan to continue working right up until the day before surgery if I am able. I would truly love to fill my schedule during this time and spend meaningful time with many of you before I step away for treatment. At the same time, plans may shift as medical details continue to evolve, and I deeply appreciate your flexibility and understanding if adjustments become necessary.
The kindness, prayers, encouragement, meals, messages, and outreach I have already received have touched me more than I can say. Thank you for holding me with such love during a time when I feel especially tender and human.
A couple of friends have kindly created a GoFundMe page to help support me through treatment and time away from work. Please know there is absolutely no expectation or obligation whatsoever — your care and support alone already mean so much to me. But for those who have asked how they can help, I will include the link below.
While I am away, I am fortunate to have a couple of trusted therapists willing to help care for clients and friends who may need continued bodywork support:
Ryan Osgothorpe - 801-867-4354
Align Manual Therapy, AlignMtherapy.com
Karey Kosovak - 435-703-0422
Radiantfunctionalwellness.com
I will continue to share updates on my progress as I can, and I remain hopeful that treatment and healing will move forward smoothly and successfully. For now, I am simply trying to stay present with what is here, one day at a time.
Thank you for walking beside me in this season of uncertainty, healing, and transformation. I already look forward to the day I can return to the work and people I love so deeply.
With all my gratitude and love,
Holly Wall
