Have you ever watched any of the TV shows that depict mediums and how they do their work?
I've dredged up some older series of shows to watch to see how they're depicted. They're either depicted as total charlatans or authentically over-dramatized. For example, if you've ever seen the show "Ghost Whisperer", you see how much creative license they apply to the scripts. That's not to say some mediums don't function that way, some actually do, but the storylines are pretty fantastical.
Anyway in the process of finding these shows I did find one series that's actually called "Medium" and even though some of the storylines take some fantastical turns at times, they're more realistic to my own experience. For example the main character of that show typically has dreams or visions while she's sleeping and wakes up startled and can't go back to sleep. That tends to be my experience also so I could really relate to that. Her specific role in the show is in helping her local police department and the district attorney help solve crimes.
I think I am now on season 3 of the show, and as far as I can tell the lead character, Alison Dubois (the character is based on an actual psychic medium) never really gets any sleep. She's constantly struggling with getting pieces of information psychically and then wondering whether it fits or what to do with it from a moral standpoint.
Which is basically the same space I'm in, although I don't do crime solving. That's something I have not attempted yet because I have ethical or moral issues with it that I'm still trying to sort out. For example, if I picked up a message that someone was guilty of a crime but who had absolutely nothing to do with the crime and shared it, I could really be messing somebody's life up. I use the same standards for all the work I do, whether it's private readings or location readings. I have to decide what information I share and what information I keep to myself for the same reason.
It makes for sort of a messy life, but I still keep at this work because I realize that I've spent the first 60 years of my life avoiding doing it when I was supposed to be doing it all this time. So I move a little slow, I gather up the pieces, I share what I can and hope people can make sense of it. I'm definitely not always right and I definitely can't fully explain what it is I actually do. I just do the best I can and then move on to whoever else I can help.
Anyway if you're ever interested in watching any of these shows, this particular one is pretty interesting, and sometimes a bit on the gruesome side. And as I'm sure you know, even real people can be gruesome sometimes!
If you've read this far into this post I also want you to know that I'm watching a very fat gray squirrel try to figure out how to eat from a hummingbird feeder. Go figure. 😆🤷🏼♀️
