In a couple of hours, the Sun will conjoin Pluto, planet that corresponds with the underlying, sometimes devastating, forces of Mother Nature. Profound change, death, rebirth, power issues of survival, the use and abuse of resources, sexual power, all things hidden and taboo — everything buried deep in the vast underground circuits of the psyche are associated with this small, outlying planet. And Pluto is getting wildly stirred up right now.
Every year the Sun swings around to meet Pluto, but this year the event is not an isolated one. A Cancer Full Moon, sweeping in tomorrow, joins the party to tightly oppose. So we have both luminaries lighting a match under volatile Pluto at the same time, with the Moon at top lunar power: full and in the sign it rules. Moreover, this triple alignment comes in on the wake of recent, multiple Venus-Pluto conjunctions: two last month, one more yet to go. We are in the midst of a series of three, rather than the usual single conjunction due to Venus's in-progress retrograde, infused, indeed dripping with Pluto.
And that's not all. Yet another provocateur will be moving into position soon: Mercury. Stationary retrograde as we speak in Aquarius — adding misunderstandings and miscommunication to the already challenging mix — Mercury will slip back over the line into Capricorn to conjoin Pluto as well.
In precise correlation with all of this Pluto activation is the news yesterday of a massive undersea volcanic eruption in the South Pacific, which in turn triggered a 7.4 magnitude earthquake and tsunami.
Pluto-related eruptions are certainly evident right now, and perhaps volcanoes of the emotional type have been flaring up in your life. "Stuff" is definitely on the rise, especially if you have natal elements at epicenter: in the late degrees of Capricorn or Cancer, as well as Libra and Aries, I would say most likely. If you are particularly sensitive, and have Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in the initial degrees of the four fixed signs (Ta**us, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius), you may be experiencing free-floating anxiety, the rumblings of an approaching train.
