Minnesota Cancer Alliance MCA is a coalition of organizations dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Cancer Alliance is a broad partnership of organizations and leaders from across Minnesota. We represent public health and health care organizations, cancer centers, culturally diverse organizations, researchers, nonprofit organizations, cancer survivors, caregivers, and advocates — all dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer across the continuum from prevention and detection to treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care. Our vision is for Minnesota to be a place where:
- Preventable cancers do not occur.
- People who develop cancer are diagnosed in the earliest stage possible.
- People with cancer are given the highest quality, state-of-the-art care available to maximize their chances of survival and quality of life.
- Preventable disparities in the prevention of cancer, and in the quality, experience, and outcomes of care for patients with cancer, are eliminated.
- Full support is given to research about the causes of cancers, prevention, early detection, treatment, quality of life, and palliation.

The Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA), together with the Minnesota Oral Health Coalition (MOHC), invites proposals for the 2027 Annual Meeting to be held April 5-6, 2027, at Plymouth Community Center in Plymouth, MN. The theme of this year's meeting is Our Next Chapter: Belonging and Building the Future of Public Health.

Proposals (both breakout/concurrent sessions and posters) are accepted from October 1 to November 11, 2026, at 11:59 pm CT on the submission form.

MPR recently interviewed Amy Klobuchar and Lisa Demuth, Minnesota’s gubernatorial candidates both of whom are breast cancer survivors. Breast cancer is the most invasive cancer diagnosed in women. Over 5,000 women in Minnesota are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Early detection and treatment increase survival rates, ten-year survival is 98% among women diagnosed with local stage breast cancer but falls to 19% among women diagnosed at distant stage.
