One living fence coming right up! Viola!

This morning Barry and I direct seeded some Sunn H**p into the Soil Builder he got from the city. --Sunn H**p is a very fast growing annual and will reach up to 6 feet tall within 60 days so it will make a great temporary living fence.

It's also a legume, which means it's able to capture atmospheric nitrogen and store it in it's roots. Once the plant reaches the end of it's life cycle Barry will chop it down --at which point the nitrogen in the roots will be released into the soil and fertilize surrounding plants. The rest of the plant's biomass will breakdown and build up the soil.

In a few days Barry will be planting (perennial) Bolivian Sunflower Bushes just to the North of the row of h**p seeds. By the time the h**p is chopped down the Sunfowers will have grown to their mature height--becoming the Permanent living fence.
