Two years ago, Hurricane Helene destroyed my studio — my third in a 20-year career. I thought that was the tough part. I was wrong.
The tough part came a year later, when the fourth studio never got off its feet.
Eleven months ago, I sold all my equipment to cover back rent, closed the doors, and was left with burnout I didn't know how to name. Twenty-five years of financial and personal crisis had worn me down: recessions, relocations, a pandemic, a relationship ending, hurricanes.
By October 31st, 2025, I had a scarce client list, no savings, and no idea who I was anymore.
So I searched.
Acting classes. Art. Skincare consulting.
Skincare actually made sense to me — it's one of the easiest ways for people to take care of themselves, no gym required, and it gave me space to think differently about what I was building.
And that's where something shifted.
Every consultation kept pulling me back to the same place: behavior change.
Character strengths.
Ten years earlier I'd taken a specialization course and discovered my own — zest, curiosity, creativity, love of learning, appreciation of beauty and excellence.
I'd spent years building what I thought people would buy instead of what I believed in. That's what burnt me out. Not the wellness industry. Me, working against myself. When I finally saw that, I knew I wasn't done. I was back — only this time on my terms, aligned with what I actually love to teach.
That's how Born Radiant was "born".
