We’re so excited to introduce the newest member of our Doula Hive team, Vanessa Clerveaux, a Full Spectrum Birth & Postpartum Doula who brings a beautiful blend of compassion, curiosity, and a deep commitment to supporting families.

As the granddaughter of a community midwife, Vanessa believes in “open hands & a compassionate heart” and strives to find the light in each family’s unique journey. Her care is grounded in meeting families where they are while continuing to grow, learn, and expand her knowledge in birth and postpartum support.

Vanessa is a nursing student and midwife assistant, with training in BLS/CPR through the American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), and Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Maternal Health Care.

A Haitian American who grew up in Massachusetts, Vanessa is especially passionate about supporting Haitian-Kreyol-speaking families. She attended the University of Alabama on a full track scholarship and went on to run professionally, representing Haiti, for seven years! 🏃🏾

When she’s not supporting families, you might find Vanessa enjoying aerial yoga, skating, visiting a tea lounge, relaxing by a beautiful lake, or learning a new art or craft.

The first Bay Area Birth Center baby was born today and caught by owner Talena L. Jones herself!!

✨ I HAVE THE BEST NEWS! ✨

I am SO incredibly excited and honored to share that I’ve been nominated for Best of the Bay 2026 – Best Midwife! 🥹🌈

Being recognized in this way means so much to me—not just because of the nomination itself, but because of the incredible families who have trusted me to walk alongside them through some of the most transformative moments of their lives.

For the past 8 years, I’ve had the absolute privilege of serving families in this community. I’ve witnessed babies being born, parents finding their strength, families growing, and people discovering just how powerful and capable they truly are. I am endlessly grateful for every person who has invited me into their birth and postpartum stories. 💕

I am also so deeply grateful for the amazing birth and reproductive health community I get to be a part of. The doulas, midwives, nurses, physicians, lactation professionals, therapists, childbirth educators, and so many others who show up every day to make care more compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered. I truly believe that we are better together. 🌈

If you’ve been a part of my journey—whether as a client, colleague, friend, community member, or supporter—thank you. This nomination feels like a celebration of all of us and the community we’ve built together.

We have some exciting news to share!
Our student midwife, Talena L. Jones has officially opened Bay Area Birth Center in Lutz, Florida!

We're thrilled to begin this new chapter together. The birth center is currently staffed by me, and once Talena receives her midwifery license this August, she'll be joining me as a licensed midwife.

As we get started, we're reaching out to ask a small favor. The lights are low. Your birth team is quietly supporting you. Your partner is by your side. The house is filled with anticipation, love, and trust.

Some births unfold over days. Others unfold in the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile, a toddler is sleeping peacefully in the next room, safe in their own bed, unaware that when they wake up, they’ll be a big sibling.

No rushing to leave for the hospital. No bright lights. No separation.

Just a family growing in the comfort of their own home.

I’ll never forget the look on her face as she lifted her baby from the water into her own arms. Shock. Joy. Relief. Power. It was one of those moments that reminds me why I love this work so deeply.

People often think home birth is about candles or birth pools or avoiding the hospital. But at its heart, it’s about protecting physiology and creating the space for birth to unfold naturally—whether labor lasts 30 hours or 30 minutes.

Sometimes that means the midwife barely has time to put on gloves before a baby is earthside. And that’s okay.

Because birth isn’t about us. It’s about honoring the wisdom of the birthing person and being ready to support whatever unfolds.

What an incredible reminder that our bodies know exactly what they’re doing!

Congratulations to this beautiful family on the fastest, fiercest, most empowering welcome to parenthood. It was an honor to witness you catch your own baby. 💗

Every lesson builds confidence. Every experience deepens understanding. Every family reminds us why this work matters.

As another week comes to a close, we celebrate the dedication of the students, educators, and midwives who continue to learn, refine their skills, and serve with compassion.

The journey doesn't end with a single class, workshop, or milestone—it continues throughout a lifetime of caring for families and communities.

Here's to continuing the journey, one step at a time.
