Measles: Can you spread it to others that haven't had it or been vaccinated even though you don't get it again yourself through exposure?

If someone is infected with measles, they are generally believed to have lifelong protection. You are highly unlikely to become infected with measles twice or spread it on to others.

It’s National Heat Awareness Day!

Heat-related illness can happen inside or outside in as little as 10 to 15 minutes.

It’s important to know the difference between heat exhaustion, which is treatable by finding a cooler location and drinking water, and heat stroke, which requires emergency medical attention.

Families across Oregon work hard to keep children healthy, and vaccines are a big part of that. Most parents choose to vaccinate their children, but new data shows that some schools have lower vaccination rates than they used to.

Because of this, state health officials are encouraging families to take a moment to check their school’s immunization rates. This can help everyone understand how protected their school community is from diseases like measles.

Parents and caregivers can see vaccination rates for individual schools on OHA’s School Immunization Data dashboard: https://ow.ly/BU4A50Z5FUp

Each year fires and smoke can threaten our homes, communities and health. Wildfire smoke can travel thousands of miles and create health hazards, especially for those with breathing or heart conditions, older adults, infants and children, and pregnant people.

If you can, create a cleaner air space. Make sure you have enough medication and monitor your health. Call your health care provider or 211 if your health symptoms get worse or you’re exposed to smoke.
