🫶 Hands are an important part of our connection to others, self-care, work and play. It's National Hand Therapy Week and we are proud to celebrate Northeast Rehab's skilled hand therapy professionals who are restoring function, reducing pain, and improving lives—one hand at a time. 🫶

Their work is a combination of art and science, compassion and commitment. Our hand therapists help to bridge the gap from the medical management of a person’s injury or condition to their successful recovery, allowing the person to function in their daily lives.

Their partnership and planning with each patient provides more than just healing, it makes it possible for patients to reconnect with their lives in a very tangible and emotional way.

Thank you again to all of our hand therapists for the care you provide.
Your knowledge and experience provide the needed expertise required to manage the challenging recovery of complex hand and upper extremity injuries. You are changing lives, one hand at a time. 🫶🤝

Did you know...Northeast Rehab has 13 hand therapists who collectively provide care at seven of our outpatient clinics? Chelmsford, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, North Andover and Tewksbury, MA plus Salem, NH. Learn more in the comments.

👏👏👏 We are proud to recognize our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) for their life-changing contributions during National Speech-Language-Hearing Month! ‼️Did you know: Communication disorders are among the most common conditions in children and adults, affecting tens of millions of people in the United States alone. Left untreated, they can impact a person’s academic, social, and career success—as well as their overall quality of life. At Northeast Rehab our SLPs offer services from birth to end of life in areas such as speech, language, feeding, swallowing, voice, cognition, and more. ‼️

Think of some of life’s meaningful moments… sharing in early communication milestones, eating a favorite food/trying your first foods, participating in a family routine or favorite activity, or resuming a favorite class/job. Our Speech-Language Pathologists help patients in each of these moments!

Across Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network, we have 33 Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) with more than 320 years of combined experience. They provide care for adults at our inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics and also pediatric patients at 7 of our outpatient clinics.

🫶Our Speech Language Pathologists are communication experts who truly connect with patients, their families, and care partners. Because of the specialized care they provide, our patients are able to connect with loved ones and the world around them in ways that may have once felt out of reach. Our Speech-Language Pathologists also help facilitate support groups, participate in focus projects, advocate for their patients, and volunteer in the community. Their reach is widespread, and their expertise has a lasting impact. Thank you to each and every one of you for your contributions and commitment to make a difference. We appreciate all that you do! 🫶

We have kicked off Stroke Awareness month in one of the best ways possible. Over the last three days Northeast Rehab Hospital Network has hosted Neurorecovery Unlimited’s May 2026 CSRS training certification at our Salem, NH Butler Street location (May 1 - 3). CSRS is the only nationally recognized, premiere stroke certification for OTs and PTs and we are honored to be one of only 12 locations chosen to host a 2026 training session. 65 dedicated PTs and OTs, 19 of whom are Northeast Rehab employees, embraced this opportunity to work with world-recognized instructors, J.J. Mowder, Steve Page, and Angie Reimer, who ran this 4-day, intensive hands-on neurorehabilitation training.

At the completion of this highly-sought training (three days in person, 1 day virtual) participants take a test to earn their CSRS certification and the distinction of including the CSRS (Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist) designation alongside their other professional credentials.

Pictured here are all 19 Northeast Rehab employees who participated, along with our Stroke Core Team leaders Keith and Joanne who were instrumental in making this day possible. And of course, thank you to the entire Neurorecovery Unlimited - CSRS team, we thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with you. We wish everyone luck as they await their results.

April is Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Awareness Month. Did you know that more than 10 million people worldwide are living with PD?! The red tulip is the official symbol for PD and is used by organizations worldwide to raise awareness and show support for those living with PD.

Why the Tulip? 🌷 In 1980, J.W.S. Van der Wereld, a Dutch horticulturist with Parkinson's disease, developed a red and white variant of the tulip. He named it the "Dr. James Parkinson" tulip in honor of the man who first described PD in 1817. The tulip was adopted as the official symbol of PD at the 9th World Parkinson’s Disease Day Conference in Luxembourg on April 11, 2005.

Three-Petal Symbolism: The tulip symbolizes hope, passion, and admiration for those living with the disease. Some interpretations suggest the three petals represent education, research, and advocacy.

Tulips are some of the earliest signs of spring, as they bloom from March to May. Here at Northeast Rehab they are another reminder of “why” we care (see link in comments for more info about PD therapy).

We hope that when you see a tulip you will think about the significance of the three petals and the 10 million people living with PD.

Today, we proudly celebrate Administrative Professionals Day 🎉 and recognize the incredible contributions of these individuals at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network’s hospitals and clinics.

Their impact is felt every day and in every interaction with their colleagues, patients, families, and care teams. They seamlessly multitask, shift priorities, and wear many different hats – all while maintaining a calm, positive, and professional presence.

Much of their work happens quietly, behind the scenes, yet it is essential to the care we provide and the success of our organization. On any given day, they are problem solvers, organizers, communicators, collaborators, and trusted partners who help turn ideas into action.

To all of our administrative professionals - thank you for your commitment, adaptability, and excellence. You strengthen our teams, enhance the experience of those we serve, and make a difference across the entire Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network. We could not do this work without you.
