If you’re dealing with swelling, one simple thing that can help is elevating the area above heart level for a little while during the day.

It can help move fluid out of the area and reduce that “heavy” or tight feeling, especially when paired with gentle movement.

Swelling can have different causes, so what helps most really depends on the situation, but this is a good starting point for a lot of people.

After a knee replacement, recovery is about more than just time; it’s about making steady progress in the right areas.

Early on, one of the biggest priorities is regaining full knee extension (getting the knee fully straight), along with gradually improving knee flexion and managing swelling.

These all play a major role in how well you move and recover.

We also focus on rebuilding quad strength and improving walking mechanics to help patients return to daily activities with more confidence and stability.

Recovery looks different for everyone, but having the right guidance can make the process smoother and more effective.

Your body often shows warning signs before pain or dysfunction becomes more severe.

Persistent swelling, ongoing tightness, limited range of motion, and symptoms that don’t resolve are some of the earliest indicators that something isn’t functioning properly.

Identifying and addressing these signs early is key to restoring movement and preventing further issues.

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, reach out via private message or email to schedule an evaluation!

Sleep plays a bigger role in tissue repair than most people think.

A lot of the real healing, like rebuilding muscle and repairing tissue, happens while you’re asleep, not just during your appointments.

When your sleep is off, your body can’t recover as well, which can show up as more soreness, stiffness, or slower progress.

We see this a lot when people feel stuck.

Small things like sticking to a consistent sleep schedule, getting off your phone earlier, and making your space more comfortable can actually make a difference over time.

Recovery isn’t just what happens in the clinic; it’s what your body is able to do the other 23 hours of the day, too!

One of the biggest misconceptions about recovery is that progress should be fast and consistent.

In reality, it often looks like gradual improvements over time, with some ups and downs along the way.

Progress might mean:

• Feeling less discomfort
• Moving more freely
• Getting back to everyday activities

The key is having a plan that’s adjusted as your body responds.

That’s why personalized, one-on-one care is so important.

If you’ve felt discouraged by slow or inconsistent progress, you’re not alone, and there are better ways to approach it!

Waking up stiff? You’re not alone - this is something a lot of people experience.

Instead of jumping right out of bed, try giving your body a few minutes to ease into movement.

Small things like gentle stretching or slow movements can help reduce stiffness and make it easier to start your day.

It doesn’t have to be anything intense - consistency matters more than anything.

If you deal with morning stiffness regularly, it might be worth taking a closer look at what your body needs.
