“It’s just part of getting older.”

If you’ve been told your aches and pains are just your age, here’s what most providers won’t say: pain may become more common as we get older, but that doesn’t mean persistent pain should automatically be accepted as inevitable.

The truth - common doesn’t always mean normal.

Movement, sleep, inflammation, recovery, nutrition, old injuries, and underlying medical conditions can all play a role. Persistent or changing pain deserves to be evaluated, not simply blamed on another birthday.

This is what we do every day at Thrive in Saline.

What’s something you’ve been told is “just part of getting older”? Tell us in the comments. 👇

Here’s what your doctor may not tell you about finding the “root cause” of chronic symptoms: there may not be ONE.

We love the idea that if we could just find that one thing—one deficiency, one food, one hormone, one infection—everything would finally make sense.

But after 18 years of working with patients, I’ve learned that the body usually isn’t that simple.

Your symptoms may be influenced by several things happening at the same time:

→ How well you’re sleeping
→ How well you’re digesting and absorbing nutrients
→ What you’re eating and what you may be missing
→ Your stress load and ability to recover
→ Environmental exposures
Instead of hunting endlessly for one hidden culprit, I’d rather map the pattern.

Finding the root cause doesn’t always mean finding ONE thing. Sometimes it means finally understanding how the pieces fit together.

Save this if you’ve been trying to figure out why you still don’t feel like yourself. 💚

And you might be surprised by how simple they are.

After years of working with patients, I’ve found that we often want to jump straight to the complicated stuff. A complete lifestyle overhaul.

But before we do all of that... what happens when we consistently give the body more of the basics it needs?

Not for three days. Not until life gets busy again. Give it 30 days.

And please don’t look at these 10 things and decide you need to start ALL of them tomorrow. 😊

Pick three.

Choose the three that feel the most doable for you right now and focus on doing them most days—not perfectly.

Then pay attention.

How’s your energy?
How are you sleeping?
How’s your digestion?
How do you feel when you wake up?

Sometimes we’re so used to how we feel that we don’t realize there could be a better baseline.

Swipe through the 10 things I’d start with → then tell me which THREE you’re choosing. 👇

Save this post, give yourself 30 days, and see what you notice. 💚

She’d get treatment. Feel better for a while. Then the symptoms would come right back.
Relief → flare → treatment → relief → flare.

Instead of asking, “What can I do to make this symptom go away again?” I started asking a different question:

“Why does this keep coming back?”

Using NRT, her health history, and looking deeper at the patterns, I was able to identify the root cause and break the cycle.

If you keep getting temporary relief but the same problem returns, the pattern itself may be an important clue.
Save this. Track your patterns.

Can poor gut health cause anxiety?

The honest answer: anxiety isn’t always just a mental health issue - your gut can be part of the picture. Your gut and brain communicate in both directions, which means what’s happening in one may influence the other.

Here’s what we look for:

1️⃣ Gut symptoms — bloating, irregular bowel movements, food reactions, or other digestive changes alongside anxiety

2️⃣ Nutrition patterns — blood sugar swings, nutrient intake, and whether digestion may be affecting how well you’re getting what you need

3️⃣ The bigger picture — sleep, stress, hormones, inflammation, medications, and other factors that may be contributing

Drop a comment 👇 if you experience gut issues along with your anxiety.

Save this if you’ve been searching for an answer.
