June is Men's Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the health challenges men face and encourage preventative care. Black men experience higher rates of several chronic conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and prostate cancer, yet are often less likely to receive routine medical care and preventative screenings.

At Black Physicians of Utah, we believe that education, early detection, and access to quality healthcare are essential to improving health outcomes. This month, we encourage men to schedule annual checkups, know their family health history, stay physically active, prioritize mental health, and have open conversations with healthcare providers about their concerns.

Black Health: Past & Present

Join us for a meaningful Juneteenth community conversation exploring the history, current state, and future of Black health and wellness. This engaging presentation will examine how historical events have shaped health outcomes in Black communities and highlight the opportunities, resources, and initiatives working to improve health equity today.

Presented by Dr. Richard Ferguson, MD, MBA, President of Black Physicians of Utah, this discussion will provide valuable insights into health trends, community wellness, preventative care, and the importance of addressing disparities that impact Black individuals and families. Whether you are interested in public health, healthcare, history, or community advocacy, this event offers an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate Juneteenth through education and empowerment.

Hosted in partnership with Black Physicians of Utah, Beloved Community, and Kiln.
