💲💲Don’t Miss Out on These Opportunities! 💲💲The Utah Diabetes Update Conference is Nov 5 & 6 in Sandy, Utah.

Diabetes Update is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to apply for a scholarship or award, or nominate someone deserving of recognition!

All applications are due September 28, 2026

There is a significant amount of funding available, and we want to make sure our Utah diabetes community takes advantage of it. Check out these four great opportunities:

Diabetes Update Conference Scholarship
Attend two full days of continuing education, completely paid for!

Diabetes Educator of the Year Award
Recognize excellence in diabetes education and receive a $500 cash award.

Professional Advancement Scholarship
Receive reimbursement for the cost of your first BC-ADM or CDCES exam.

Community Service in Diabetes Award
Help us recognize someone who is not a CDCES but has made a meaningful impact on our local diabetes community. Nominate a community member, advocate, volunteer, or other deserving individual by emailing [email protected] with their name and a few sentences explaining why they should be recognized.

Take a few minutes and apply. You could be leaving money on the table! And while you’re at it, think of someone whose contributions deserve to be celebrated.

We are so grateful to Lacie!

Lacie Peterson, PhD, RDN, CDCES, BC-ADM, FAND, FADCES serves as the Finance Leader for Utah ADCES. She is a Clinical Professor at Utah State University and Director of the Master of Dietetics Administration program, where she educates future dietitians and healthcare leaders. With 20 years of experience as a registered dietitian, Dr. Peterson specializes in diabetes care, metabolic health, weight management, and leadership. She is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and Board Certified–Advanced Diabetes Manager. As Finance Leader, she supports the financial stewardship of Utah ADCES and advances professional development, advocacy, and diabetes education throughout Utah. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, SCUBA diving, and exploring food cultures around the world.

SaRene is the educator and founder of Goal Nutrition and Diabetes Specialty. Two of her children live with type 1 diabetes. This has led her to a career she enjoys of helping individuals and families impacted by diabetes. She is married to an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking and backpacking. She describes herself as a “crocheting fool” and a “creative cook!”

We are so grateful to Harmony for the passion, experience, and expertise she brings to Utah’s Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists.

Harmony is the manager of the Cedar City Diabetes and Endocrine clinic. She has been a nurse for 18 years and a member of ADCES for 14! In addition to work she stays busy with her 3 kids and their activities. She loves travel, time at the family cabin, and recently learned fly-fishing.
