The longest day of the year is almost here. 🌞

Solstices are potent for energy work: the exact moment the sun reaches its peak & the earth pauses before it turns. The word itself means “sun stands still” — from the Latin sol (sun) & sistere (to stand still). A held breath & intention in the sky.

I named my practice Solstice Holistic for this exact reason. Because the most powerful healing, growth, & transformation doesn’t happen in the rushing or the external world — it happens in the sacred pause within. In the stillness right before everything changes, where you stop, FEEL it all the way through, & then move forward as someone new. That’s the work I do with my clients, & the work I’ve built my entire career around: turning pain to power & wounds to wisdom — but only once we’ve stood still long enough to look within & walk to the very root of what we’re experiencing.

Summer is yang energy — expansion, momentum, motion. It’s delicious, &… it moves quickly. Most of us launch straight into it from an already-depleted nervous system, then wonder why we feel scraped raw by July.

So this Saturday — on one of the most energetically charged weekends of the year — we are choosing to stand still on purpose as a community.

Diana and I are holding space at Pvolve Salt Lake City ❤️‍🔥one hour of coming home to yourself before the season speeds up.

30 minutes with me — breathwork, visualization, subconscious reprogramming, & meditation in a room cleared with sage & sweetened by palo santo. Immersive soul work, the deep slowing-down your body has been quietly asking for.

Then 30 minutes of sound bath with Diana, to reset your nervous system all the way down to the bone.

What would 12-year-old you have built if someone handed you a camera, a studio, an instrument and a mentor who believed in you? 🎸✨

That’s what does. Every day. For thousands of Utah youth and young adults — film, music, audio, design, and the mentorship to actually go somewhere with it.

It’s an incredible part of our community here in SLC.

Before I built .holistic , I spent the first chapter of my career as an academic mentor and coach for at-risk youth and young adults — working with students in places like Flint, Michigan and small towns across the PNW, where high dropout rates, poverty, and adverse circumstances were the daily backdrop.
My job was to help them rebuild their relationship with school and themselves, with healthy habits after significant trauma, their ability to dream, and how to be intentional with what came next after their diploma. That work shaped me in ways I still pull from and reflect fondly on 16+ years later — especially because I have the privilege to still speak to and work with those then-teens who are now thriving adults.

I work primarily with adults now, but supporting young people will always be very close to my heart ❤️ People truly thrive and tap into a creative flow when they’re seen, supported, in a safe space and given room to express their full selves. And is doing exactly that for the next generation of artists, changemakers & visionaries. ✨

Caramelized plantains & butter-fried dates over vanilla bean ice cream, topped with olive oil & flaky salt 🤏🏽

This is so simple & so good. Save for your next dessert night ⬇️

RECIPE:
Heat butter in a medium skillet on medium-low heat. Add the dates first to begin caramelizing, then add the plantains & cinnamon. Mix together until both are evenly coated in the butter & cinnamon.

Cook for 7-10 minutes until golden & caramelized — stir & flip frequently (especially the dates) to prevent burning.

Scoop your ice cream into a bowl, top with the warm plantains & dates, finish with a generous drizzle of olive oil & a pinch (or two or three) of flaky salt.

Can also add to freshly made hot oats, a yogurt parfait etc.

Caramelized sweet potatoes & hot honey beef 🍠✨ I make this every week for a reason 🤌🏽 here’s the recipe

-clean & cut your sweet potato’s in half, rub them with olive oil, salt & pepper well

-Rub the extra olive oil into your hands & cuticles to help keep hands moisturized

-Bake at 350 for 90 minutes let them cool face down for an hour or so after they’re cooked to gather the syrup they naturally make

-Paint nails, yap & eat cookies while the 🍠 bakes

-Drizzle beef with hot honey

-Add to any meal for a lil extra umph or have them as a snack

But first, can we talk about how a walk might be the most underrated healing tool you have access to every single day?

🧠 Mind — bilateral movement (left foot, right foot) literally activates both hemispheres of the brain. It’s the same mechanism used in EMDR therapy for trauma processing. Your best ideas, your clearest thoughts, your biggest breakthroughs? They happen on walks for a reason.

🌿 Body — your nervous system downregulates when you move at a gentle pace outdoors. Cortisol drops. The vagus nerve activates. Sunshine regulates your circadian rhythm which means better sleep, better mood, better everything. Nature also absorbs & recycles old energy. What you carry out, you don’t have to carry home.

✨ Spirit — grounding in nature (literally feet near earth, sunshine on skin, fresh air) pulls you out of your head & back into your body. It resets your frequency. It reminds you that you are part of something living & breathing & bigger than your to-do list. I remind my clients who have anxiety or suffer from fear based thinking at night to walk at dusk & listen for the birds (they only sing when it’s safe) while focusing on what they can see, taste, smell, feel, hear etc as the regulate.

A walk is a nervous system reset, a therapy session & a spiritual practice all in one. Free & available daily.

Your home is not just four walls. It’s a living, breathing energetic field, and it absorbs everything. Every emotion, every argument, every heartbreak, every season of life that played out inside of it.

Most deep clean their homes but never think to clear the energy. And then we wonder why the anxiety lingers. Why something just feels off and we can’t explain it.
Every space holds energy. The people who lived there before you, the arguments, the grief, the love and joy, the transitions — it all leaves a residue. A clearing is how you move that out.
I come into your home to smudge each room, burning sage & other sacred herbs while working with Spirit to cleanse & shift the energy ✨moving through each space, each corner, each entryway until the whole home feels different. Lighter. Clearer. Yours.

Space clearing is one of the oldest healing practices on earth. Every ancient culture (Indigenous traditions, Chinese feng shui, Egyptian ritual, Celtic ceremony) knew that the energy of a space was just as important as the physical one. This isn’t new, rather, a ritual of remembering.
It is genuinely one of the greatest honors of my work at Solstice Holistic to be invited into someone’s home to hold this for them.

Cameron & Gavin were barely unpacked in their first home together when they called me in. We walked every room, every corner, every area where core memories would be made — clearing what came before them with gratitude & setting the tone for the love, the life & the family they’re building there.
