Since ancient times, there have always been schools dedicated to preserving and teaching the very highest truths and mysteries of life — places where people could go to remove themselves from the distractions of day-to-day life and one-pointedly immerse themselves in a supportive, nurturing environment, emerging enriched and transformed. Today, and especially in the West, this tradition has been l

argely replaced by schools that almost exclusively emphasize rational learning. We find very few schools that focus on discovering the real nature of the Self. The Amrit Yoga Institute is such a place, dedicated to serving and awakening the very highest within all who come here with trainings, workshops, and spiritual lifestyle opportunities that nurture the soul. The Amrit Institute is situated on a secluded 6-acre property in a lush setting with a towering canopy of large, shady oaks, and formal gardens with Chattahoochee stone decks and walkways. The Main House and Recreation Lodge can accommodate small programs and a number of guests. Our lakefront property and beautiful grounds provide a tranquil, restful, natural setting ideal for restoring your health and reconnecting to the spiritual source

Ongoing Local Community Classes and Programs:
The Amrit Yoga Institute offers classes, satsangs and kirtans throughout the year to the public. Most programs are free to the public, although donations are gratefully accepted.

"Every reaction is a choice. It is preprogrammed from the past. That choice is reaction." — Gurudev Shri Amritji

You assumed your reactions happened to you.

The teaching reframes that completely.

Even the automatic ones were chosen.

This is the line of the week that asks the most, so let it land plainly.

Every reaction is a choice.

Even the ones that felt automatic.

Even the ones that felt like they happened to you before you had time to do anything.

Those, too. Especially those.

Gurudev Shri Amritji is not saying you chose them deliberately in the moment. He is saying the reaction itself is the choice - preprogrammed from the past, executed below the threshold of awareness, but still a choice.

The fact that it ran on autopilot does not change its nature. It just hides it.

This sounds harsh until it is taken in. Then it becomes the actual doorway.

As long as reactions are something happening to you, freedom is impossible - you are downstream of yourself.

The moment they are recognized as choices, even the unconscious ones, the architecture changes.

A choice can be seen. What is seen can be unmade.

Which of your reactions are you still treating as if they happened to you?

Tomorrow, take time to pause, listen, and receive the teachings directly.

The pressure to improve can become its own struggle.

The mind can turn change into another demand.

Gurudev Shri Amritji offers another way.

We are honored to begin sharing I AM Yoga: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Living, a podcast created to bring Gurudev's timeless teachings into the moments where they are most needed.

Each episode explores the inner patterns that shape daily life: reaction, expectation, fear, self-judgment, discipline, awareness, and the search for lasting freedom.

These teachings are not meant to remain abstract. They are meant to be lived, practiced, and remembered in the middle of ordinary human experience.

In Episode 8, "The Self-Improvement Trap No One Talks About," Gurudev explores what happens when the effort to change yourself becomes another form of tension.

The mind says you must fix yourself, control your reactions, and become someone better in the future. Yet this constant pressure can keep you divided against what is happening now.

Through the teachings of I AM Yoga®, transformation begins in a different way. It begins when you stop fighting the present moment long enough to witness it. From that place of presence, the struggle softens, and the wholeness that was never absent begins to reveal itself.

This podcast is an invitation to return to the teachings again and again, wherever life is asking you to become more aware.

A reaction looks like a response.

It is also a review and a preview.

Backward and forward in the same instant.

A reaction feels like a response to what just happened. Someone said something, you reacted. The situation looks like the cause. That perception is half-true, and the half it leaves out is where karma actually lives.

Gurudev Shri Amritji teaches it more accurately. Every reaction is two things at once.

It is a review of the unresolved past, the old material the present moment just pulled forward. And it is a preview of the future, the next iteration of the same pattern, already being written by how you are meeting this moment.

Backward and forward, simultaneously, in every reactive instant.

This is what makes karma a law rather than a metaphor.

The reaction is not just weather passing through; it is the unresolved past replanting itself in the soil of the present, where it will grow into the future you then encounter.

The free live Quantum Breath Meditation runs today at 11:00 AM Eastern, a direct practice of this exact movement.

The session is not a technique for stopping reactions.

It is a place where the body's reactive load is allowed to move while awareness keeps watch.

That is the precise condition under which the review-and-preview function actually pauses.

What you see is not always reality.

It is often reality interpreted through a hidden filter.

Most people assume they are seeing life as it is.

The deeper question is whether perception is being shaped by the present moment or by unconscious conditioning.

The article The Hidden Filter Through Which You See the World explores a foundational teaching within I AM Yoga®: the tendency of consciousness to identify with a limited sense of self and then view reality through that identification.

Once perception divides into "me" and "the world," experience is no longer received directly.

It begins passing through a filter created by memory, self-image, expectation, and conditioned interpretation.

This hidden filter influences how you experience relationships, challenges, opportunities, and even your understanding of yourself.

What appears to be an objective reality is often shaped by subjective perception.

Through the lens of witnessing consciousness, it becomes possible to observe this process rather than unconsciously participate in it.

As awareness deepens, the filter begins to lose its authority. Perception becomes less driven by past conditioning and more responsive to what is actually present.

This shift is central to the inner journey. When the filter softens, conflict with reality begins to diminish.

What remains is a growing capacity to meet life directly, without the constant interference of unconscious projection.

A teaching becomes transformative when it changes the way you meet the next moment.

This article explores one of the deepest filters influencing that encounter.

You have been living as the recipient.

Life happens, and you respond.

The teaching reverses that whole picture.

Most of us live inside a quiet assumption that we are the recipient of our life.

Things happen, we respond. Outcomes arrive, we react. People treat us a certain way, we adjust.

The internal weather is, in this picture, the result of the external weather. We are the ones being acted upon.

Gurudev Shri Amritji teaches the reverse with a precision that, taken seriously, changes everything. You are not the recipient of your life.

You are the architect of it. It is not because nothing happens to you, things will continue happening to you, but because the inner world you keep building through your reactions, your interpretations, and your repeated choices becomes the outer world you keep meeting.

This is harder than it sounds, and far more freeing than it sounds.

It is arder because it removes the comforting position of the one to whom things were done.

It is freer because it returns the work to the only place where work was ever possible: inside you.

The architect is not happy or unhappy about this. The architect is simply at work.

Every thought that takes hold is a beam being placed.

Every reaction that hardens is a wall going up.

Every interpretation that becomes habit is a room you will live inside.

The practice is to begin noticing this in real time, not retrospectively.

It is not "I see how my past choices created this," but "I see, right now, the small choice forming the next layer."

This is the kind of teaching Amritji was created to keep alive in daily practice.

For a limited time, annual access to Amritji is available for $108 with code AMRITJI108.

The free trial has also been extended from three days to 14 days, giving you more time to experience the teachings before choosing your next step.

Blame feels like relief.

It quietly strengthens separation while expectation stays in control.

When the mind cannot reconcile what it expected with what actually happened, the ego looks for someone or something to hold responsible.

This can happen in the face of fear, rejection, disappointment, or any moment where life does not match the image the mind was carrying. Blame appears to release the pressure. It gives the discomfort a direction.

It says, "This is because of them. This is because of that."

But Gurudev Shri Amritji points us back to something deeper.

The outer situation may have triggered the reaction, but the reaction is being sustained inside. The moment you make someone else responsible for your inner state, you give away your own power to meet what is arising within you.

This is the hidden bo***ge of expectation.

It disguises itself as clarity. It feels like protection. Yet it reinforces dependence on external circumstances for peace.

In I AM Yoga®, the practice is not to defend the blame. It is to witness the projection before it becomes identity. When awareness meets the held reaction directly, the energy that was bound in expectation can begin to release.

If you are seeking more than temporary relief, this is a doorway into the deeper practice of I AM Yoga.

The body can be flexible.

The breath can be controlled.

The mind can still remain unchanged.

This is why yoga was never meant to stay on the surface.

Many people practice to feel better in the body, to soften stress, to sleep more deeply, or to create a few moments of quiet in the middle of a demanding life.

These benefits matter.

They are often the first signs that practice is beginning to work.

But the deeper question is this: Is your practice changing the way you meet life?

I AM Yoga® points practice inward, toward the place where posture, breath, prana, and awareness begin to reveal the patterns that shape your experience.

The mat becomes more than a place to move. It becomes a mirror for how you resist, react, hold, strive, release, and return to presence.

This is the foundation of the 2026 I AM Yoga® 200-Hour Teacher Training.

Led by Gurudev Shri Amritji and Nirali Lauren McCrea, this training is for those who feel called to teach and for those who are ready to deepen their own practice from the inside out.

The training includes posture, breath, meditation, I AM Yoga Nidra™, I AM Yoga Therapy™, daily sadhana, Darshan, yogic philosophy, and self-paced anatomy and asana study.

It begins June 10–14, 2026, with additional live modules September 23–27 and November 12–15 at Amrit Yoga Institute Forest Side.

Yoga begins as practice. With the right guidance, it becomes a way of living. Explore the 2026 I AM Yoga® Teacher Training:

Someone must be responsible.

That is what ego says.

Presence sees something deeper.

Gurudev Shri Amritji teaches that when the mind cannot reconcile its expectations with its experience, the ego often looks for someone or something to blame.

This can happen through fear, rejection, disappointment, or any moment where life does not match the image the mind was holding.

Blame appears to relieve the pressure.

But it does not resolve the cause.

It strengthens separation. It deepens identification. It keeps the unresolved memory active beneath the surface.

The moment you make someone else responsible for your inner state, you give away your own power to meet what is arising within you.

This is the hidden bo***ge of expectation.

In I AM Yoga®, the practice is not to protect the story of blame. The practice is to witness the projection as it happens.

When awareness sees the reaction clearly, the energy bound in expectation can begin to release.
If this teaching brings clarity to something you have been carrying, share it with someone who may need this reminder today.
