May was a month filled with adventure, connection, and celebration. From exploring three beautiful national parks and enjoying relaxing coffee dates, to celebrating a special baby shower, the month was packed with meaningful moments. Plenty of sunshine made every outing even brighter, creating memories with friends and loved ones along the way. May reminded us to slow down, enjoy the little things, and appreciate the people and places that make life special. ☀️☕🌲🎉💕

One of the best ways to set yourself up for success when you’re building a new habit is to make a plan.

Key questions to ask:
Where and when do I prefer to walk?
What items do I need to get started?
What is my time or distance goal?
How often will I revisit that goal as I make progress?

Answering these questions sooner than later can save you time down the road. When you have a plan in place, it can help you feel more confident to make it happen.

Set realistic expectations
Carving out time in your day to do something new can be challenging. Setting realistic expectations from the beginning can help take some pressure off yourself. One way to do this is by starting small.

For example:
If your goal is to walk daily, start small by walking 1-2 days per week.
If your goal is to walk for an hour, start small by walking for 15 minutes.

The key here is to start where you’re at and then build gradually over time. Remember, every step counts.

WHY START WALKING

It’s a low-impact form of exercise that has some impressive benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing. Did you know that walking can:
Protect your knee and hip joints by strengthening the muscles that surround them.
Reduce your risk of developing conditions like heart disease.
Improve your mood and mental wellbeing.

We know that walking is good for us but making it a consistent part of our routine can be easier said than done. However, with a little planning and the right mindset, walking can become a healthy habit that sticks.

Think about why walking is important to you. When your reason for walking is meaningful to you, you’re more likely to stick with it!
