As the cold weather hits, so does the yuck.

And with the holidays right around the corner, you’ll be dodging this and preventing that all season long.

Stay with us, Betties!

We’ve got your game plan to keep healthy. 💪

DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE

Set your health and the health of others up for the season with some precautionary best
practices. Make sure you’re up to date on your flu shot + updated COVID vaccine. Keep a mask
or two on you to throw on when you’re out ‘n’ about in high-density areas – think: shopping
malls, grocery stores, airports.

GO TO SLEEP

I know, I know, FOMO at the very thought of missing out on any of the fun, but your body
*literally* repairs itself while you are sleeping. Give yourself a bedtime and stick to it. With the
inevitable hustle & bustle of the season, you need all the zzz’s and then some to recover!

UP YOUR HYDRATION

Enjoy a fun, seasonal bevvy for sure, but don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Think of water to
our bodies as oil is to our cars – it’s what keeps our bodily functions running smoothly and
business as usual. Buddy up to your water bottle and make sure you’re alternating any alcoholic
drink with a glass of water!

KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN (AND AWAY FROM YOUR FACE!)

Yup, the ol’ standard wash your hands advice is a classic for a reason. Make it habit and lather
up those hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds as often as possible! (If you
want to get real geeky with it, the CDC has an A+ guide to optimal hand washing.) If you can’t get to a sink, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used, but don’t abandon the soap + warm water routine altogether. Hand sanitizer may not kill all germs, so it is important to still lather up!

Betties - Infections might be creeping up, but you’re not without tools to stay well!

Betties, we know that taking charge of your healthcare can feel like navigating a maze, especially when
it comes to understanding your insurance.

One place to start: identifying your plan. You can usually find this by looking for a 3-letter acronym on your insurance card. We’ve got the lowdown on what these codes mean.

Preferred Provider Plan (PPO): PPO plans are all about freedom! You can choose your doctors and hospitals, both in-network
and out-of-network. But remember, it’s usually more cost-effective to stick with in-network
providers.

Health Maintenance Organization (HMO): With HMO plans, you choose a primary care physician (P*P) to head up your care. They’ll be the ones to hook you up with referrals to specialists within the network for all of your needs.

Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO): Think of EPOs like the cousins of PPOs, but they’re all about in-network care, except for
emergencies, of course!

Point Of Service (POS): POS plans are hybrids of HMO + PPO. You’ve got a go-to P*P, but you can still see out-of-network providers, with a little extra cost.

It’s important to note that every Betty’s plan is unique, even if they share the same insurance
company. For example, two Betties might both be covered by BCBS, but they still have separate
contracts that might come with completely different coverages.

This is why we always recommend checking your specific health plan before booking!
