Hey everyone, quick update from CJ’s latest clinic visit:
• Weight win: Up 1 lb to 144! Last goal was 155 by March and we were so CLOSE, but we’re adjusting to a realistic new one: 150 by end of March, then +2 lbs/month after that. Small victories add up—keep fueling that fighter!

• Breathing: Down a bit (-10 points) to 90 & 93. Still way better than some, and remember his first numbers back in 2022 were 82 & 89. Holding strong overall—no panic here.
• Hands/arms: No change—steady as she goes.
• Legs: Still strong (thank God!), but more cramping in toes/feet lately. Working through it.
No major shifts otherwise, except some insurance stuff we’ll sort before our March trip back to News 4 San Antonio San Antonio Current San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

House/porch projects on pause while we tackle converting the stove to propane (quotes incoming!). With the power outage we had- priorities changed significantly. CJ got too cold without heat which made him sick and all his work with gaining weight diminished in days!

We’re skipping May clinic since we’re headed to DC and Cape Cod early May—excited for that adventure! We will be fundraising for this one.

Above everything He’s none of those numbers; His name is CJ!

We’re still in this fight every day—keeping weight up, staying active & on the move (even when it’s tough), getting the right insurance locked in (huge drop in costs once state programs approve), and pushing forward.
Grateful for your love, prayers, and support.

More on fundraising/benefits coming soon—we’ll need it this year.

Since being diagnosed with ALS in 2022,

CJ goes to “ALS Clinic” every 3 months.

This is where his numbers are recorded and documented.

We spend 4-5 hours seeing an entire team of professionals. They track progression and guide us into the next phase of this awful disease.

Clinic days started out dreadful- but of course CJ had to change that.

Cracking his jokes and even bringing in his walk-up song; “Here comes the Rooster”

Time is never something CJ takes for granted. Even when it’s dreadful, like clinic days.

The anticipation leading up to clinic days are difficult;
Knowing the numbers won’t reflect progress, but guaranteed to reflect progression is devastating.

The same base word and such a drastic opposite. Ironic.

Tomorrow is CJ’s first clinic of the year- and for the first time in 4 years, the dreadful week passed without a single anticipation of “clinic week gloom” hit.

Until tonight, the quiet, the dark. When the rest of the world stops to rest- ALS is still actively taking.

These are the quiet thoughts, the ones too difficult, too raw, too loud to ignore.

Reailty- This is the ache that fuels the fairytale we get to share with you while LIVING in the face of dieing.

Keep CJ and our family lifted tonight.

Hey everyone, this is Josh and I’ve been blessed to call him my friend for more than 40 years.

My husband is not just ‘some guy with ALS.’
He’s CJ—the one who lights up a room with his laugh, pushes you to chase what’s worth it, and lives every single day like it matters.
Before the diagnosis, he was already inspiring everyone around him to build a life full of meaning, adventure, and heart.
And even now, on this tough path with ALS, his strength, his fight, his love… it’s touching more lives than ever.
This is CJ’s Path—full of People, awareness, tenacity and refusing to be defined by a number or a statistic.
He’s real. His story is real.

If you’ve ever crossed paths with CJ (or even if you haven’t yet), know this: CJ is still the same incredible soul, still inspiring us all to live bigger, love harder, and never give up.
His name is CJ. 💙
CJ’s ALS Path is changing everything.
Share this if you know someone fighting ALS, or if CJ’s story moves you. Let’s keep lifting him up.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a deadly fast progressive neurological disease that destroys every muscle in your body until there’s nothing left.

Your mind is cognitive. You can still feel touch/pain. And yet- you can’t move a muscle.

So many of you have asked how you can help us — local or afar— this is one way that truly makes a difference.

So many of you have asked how you can help us — local or afar— this is one way that truly makes a difference. Between CJ’s care, appointments, deadlines, and trying to keep life steady for Kaitlyn and Joe, we’re often running on empty — and figuring out dinner just adds to the mental load....
