💙 What if we asked a different question?
Instead of asking...
"Are we choosing not to save them?"
What if we asked...
"What do they want to experience in their final moments?"
For many families, signing a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order feels like giving up.
But hospice invites us to see it differently.
It's about honoring a person's wishes.
It's about choosing comfort over unnecessary suffering.
It's about asking:
✨ What does a peaceful passing look like to them?
✨ Where do they want to spend their final days?
✨ Who do they want beside them?
✨ What matters most to them now?
When someone has chosen hospice, the goal is no longer aggressive treatment. The goal is comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
That's why we encourage families:
Call your hospice team first—not 911.
Our nurses are available 24 hours a day to manage symptoms, provide guidance, and help your loved one remain comfortable in the place they call home.
Sometimes, another trip to the hospital means more tests, more machines, and more interventions that may not change the course of an advanced, terminal illness. Hospice care focuses instead on easing symptoms, supporting families, and honoring the goals of care that matter most to the patient.
These conversations aren't easy.
But they're some of the most loving conversations you'll ever have.
❤️ The greatest gift we can give someone at the end of life isn't always more treatment—it's honoring how they want to live until their final breath.
