Dear Interns, Residents, and Fellows,
I want to personally take a moment to say “thank you” for all you do every day to take care of our very deserving patients.
You are indeed the front line of care, along with our nursing and other medical staff in our major teaching sites. You inspire us, your faculty, daily with your commitment to our mission to put patients first while we remain invested in your personal and professional growth.
I and so many others will never forget your care during the unprecedented time of the COVID Pandemic. As we move ahead in this age of the “new normal,” we will continue to look to you to help us on this journey! I want you to know that I and some of your faculty have also struggled at times during the last two years of the Pandemic.
Of all days, on National Doctors Day, we need to pause and ensure we are dedicated to one another as “Brothers and Sisters Keepers.” I was saddened to hear from a trainee who had spent a number of years with us they were not aware of our wealth of resources to guide our trainees. Please take the opportunity to visit our Work-Life Wellness Page today.
Finally, I hope you are aware of our House Staff Council. They are your advocates before the University and our major hospitals. Please consider becoming involved if not already. Our responsibility as advocates for the profession and our patients begins now.
Happy
Sincerely, Scott
