Well, I learned a useful lesson about when to harvest amaranth seeds- I was too late! (Top left) most of those seeds are from the wild green amaranth that grew in the yard. I got very few from the Giant Pink Amaranth I grew on purpose! Which means it reseeded itself and I should have a great crop next year, which I will harvest on time!

It just showed up in the yard in multiple sites- edible and highly nutritious. Harvested all these seeds last weekend and we ate the stalks and leaves with sautéed greens last week.
Final harvest for my holy basil, got some seed stalks and I’m finally using my dehydrator for something other than marshmallows!

Up to this point, my herbal offerings have been comprised of herbs purchased from others. Today I harvested my own herbs for the first time. My Holy Basil has thrived even in this drought! It’s beautiful! I think I’ll be able to get a second harvest before the end of the growing season! 🙏🏻🌿 I use it in most of my custom tea blends, it’s a wonderful adaptive!
