Five years ago, we opened Perky with a simple mission: help restore confidence to those affected by breast cancer.

What we couldn’t have imagined were the stories we’d be trusted with, the friendships we’d build, the lessons we’d learn, and the community that would grow around us.

Over the last 5 years, we’ve celebrated victories, held space for grief, witnessed incredible resilience, and been reminded daily that restoration is about so much more than tattoos.

To every client, supporter, partner, advocate, and friend who has been part of this journey—thank you. You helped shape Perky into something bigger than we ever dreamed.

And somehow, we’re just getting started.

The next chapter includes projects, programs, and opportunities we never imagined we’d be launching when we opened our doors in 2021. We can’t wait to share what’s coming.

Unpopular opinion: survivorship is more complicated than most people talk about.

After working with thousands of women affected by breast cancer, we’ve learned that healing doesn’t always look the way people expect it to.

Getting through it and getting over it are different things.
Some losses don’t need a silver lining.
Looking whole and feeling whole aren’t the same thing.
The end of treatment isn’t the end of the experience.
Not every survivor feels inspiring.
Gratitude and grief can exist at the same time.
A healed scar and a healed heart are different.
And you don’t owe anyone a success story.

Today is my birthday, and I have one teensy wish:

I want more breast cancer survivors, previvors, and thrivers to have access to restorative tattooing regardless of their financial situation.

When people think about breast cancer, they often think about diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation.

What we’ve learned from survivors is that healing doesn’t always end when treatment does.

There are conversations about body image, intimacy, grief, identity, fear of recurrence, and learning how to feel at home in your body again. There are scars that represent both loss and incredible strength. There are moments that seem small to others but mean everything to the person living them.

Working with this community has taught us that restoration isn’t about perfection. It’s about recognition. It’s about looking in the mirror and seeing yourself again.

Every survivor’s journey is different, but one thing remains true: feeling whole matters.

To every survivor who has trusted us with your story, thank you for the lessons you’ve taught us along the way. 💗
