I’ve lied about these scars.
I’ve hidden them.
Covered them.
Cried over them.
Wished they weren’t there.
Because sometimes, when you tell people the truth about your scars, you stop being a person with a story and become “the cancer girl.”
But these scars are more than cancer.
They are a port that helped save my life.
A pathway for the medicine that helped me fight.
A reminder that my own body helped rebuild what cancer tried to take.
I spent years seeing everything that was wrong with this body.
Now, I’m learning to see everything it did to keep me here.
So I covered my scars in gems.
Not because I need them to be beautiful.
But because I finally believe I can be beautiful with them.
A little whimsy never hurt either. ✨
