This weekend, Event Response Services of San Diego (ERSSD) had the incredible honor of volunteering at the Girls Empowerment Camp and serving as a proud sponsor of a multi-agency collaboration focused on introducing teens to careers in public safety.

Our team worked hands-on with participants, teaching essential lifesaving skills including CPR, AED use, splinting, bleeding control, and proper tourniquet application. We’re passionate about building confidence through education, and these future leaders rose to the challenge.

One of the most impactful moments of the weekend was the “Confidence Course” — where participants geared up in full turnout gear, navigated a simulated “house fire” with blackout goggles, and followed a hose line to safety. This exercise was all about trusting their training, staying calm under pressure, and believing in their ability to overcome obstacles.

We are proud to support and empower the next generation of strong, capable young women. Thank you to all the agencies involved for making this weekend such a powerful and inspiring experience.

Not every moment on shift is high stress—and we don’t mind that.

Today the team got to hand out a medal to a determined 4-year-old after “running” a half marathon. Safe to say, that might’ve been the most important finisher of the day.

We’re here to handle the serious stuff—but moments like this are a pretty great part of the job too.
