Honest post incoming. 🌿
I’m stepping back from vibrational sound therapy for a few months. This comes from a place of self-care — something I talk about with clients often, and clearly need to practice myself. The physical demands of sound work are real, and I’m listening to my body. Flower essence therapy continues as always.

I also want to be real: small healing practices like mine survive on bookings and word of mouth, not likes. I work a full-time job alongside this because I believe in what I do — but I’d love to do more of it, and that depends on people actually reaching out.

I was fortunate to have Pauline as a family friend. Growing up with avant garde sound exploration as the norm is unusual to say the least. Finding Vibrational Sound Therapy as a context for returning to performance gave me a new appreciation for it.

In my studio are images of both my parents, each in performance, and I thank them each time I create a healing sound experience. I often think of Pauline too, and have always loved this photo of her at White Tank in Joshua Tree. My family camped there once with another composer’s family, and the landscape’s acoustics provided fun and inspiration - fun for our creative families and inspiration for composers who created performances just for that place.

My own art practice has been circuitous and broad. I’m so grateful to have such wealth within me to draw from. I strive to make it part of my everyday life, and in particular my approach to my sound and essence offerings so that they are as attuned as possible.

To be open minded is always the starting point, then to apply energy and attention creates a practice.

I made a flower essence formula for Kestrel today. After 20 years of making formulas for dogs based entirely on my knowledge of behavior - so all intellectually-based choices - I made today’s formula based on intuitive choices. I used a pendulum to help me select 4 essences to use for two-weeks.

Intuitive choosing allows for an entirely different level of understanding. Reading the descriptions after making the blend was a reminder of how often we mischaracterize their needs and behavior based on our needs and reactions to it, and how expansive their life journey’s can be. I would’ve gone in a totally different direction if I based it strictly on what I thought she needed.

The essences in the formula (all Alaskan) are Alpine Azalea, Dwarf Fireweed, Spectrolite, and Winter in August.

Something else I’ve been doing for a long time is creating zines, and I’ll be tabling this Sunday at with these and other zines (and my photo book about my cross country drives). In past years I’ve participated as part of but this year it’s just me. If you’re in San Diego come see me.
