Exactly how I keep a flat belly on vacation.

We have been traveling for 7 days. Taking in ALL the views. Plenty of gelato. Plenty of champagne. Some steps some days. Zero workouts until today.

Today started with a walk through the corn fields, wheat fields, and wine vineyards (no big deal). Then we found a tiny yoga room with the most incredible view and a couple of stability balls. That was all I needed.

Here is exactly what I did:
• Stability ball pikes
• Stability ball crunches
• Stability ball planks
• Plank rollouts
• Kneeling balance on the stability ball (advanced, my favorite)
10 minutes. Done.

I want you to see this and know YOU can do it too. You do not need a fancy gym. You do not need an hour. You do not need to “earn” your gelato. You just move. A little. Most days. That is it.

This is not a hustle. It is not a punishment. It is a lifestyle. I am eating ALL the gelato on this trip and I still feel like me because I keep showing up in small ways.

You can absolutely have both. The trip. The treats. AND your body feeling good.

PS my lunch at the end…. Asked for extra protein. Real food. No restriction. Just balance.

When I saw this first picture the thing I zoomed my focus on was my explant scar, my lower stomach disc replacement scar (surgeon went thru my lower stomach), and my big estradiol patch lol . and here I am in one of the most beautiful places in the world - an no one else would ever care or notice.

I added it to the collage anyways bc in 10 more years I’ll think it’s even dumber that I ever noticed those things as I’ll have more wrinkles and brown spots & scars by then. I’ll wish I had posted the bikini pic. Just like I remember my 19 year old self being self conscious and “covering up”

Insecurities don’t go away as women as we age- they get heightened BUT we also become much more aware of how they can consume us if we let them… and we know they should not.

Some other things I’m noticing as woman in my mid 50’s…

Time seems to speed up and dang I’m craving it to slow down so much more.

Health becomes less about vanity and more about freedom , mobility and independence. I want to get stronger and age strong. We have to train for aging!

Old Memories become have become less vivid. True story- I ran into one of my FIRST cousins on this trip! So random! And dang- literally took me a few minute to realize it was her! Creating new memories is becoming time sensitive and top priority.

And wow… there are just so many incredible places in our world to explore… I want to experience it all!

Lake como you did not disappoint! Tomorrow we head to a more remote area of Italy in wine country.

Lucerne Switzerland is GORGEOUS!!! I remembered being here 35 years ago and am so happy to be back

I’ve never been yet to lake como so I’m excited to check it out!

EMFs… we need to talk! And Hi from Germany!!

We are swimming in them. Phones. WiFi. Earbuds. Cell towers. Invisible. Constant. And they affect all of us.

And midlife women are walking around exhausted, anxious, foggy and blaming everything but this.

If I could only do 3 exercises for the rest of my midlife, these would be it. And here is WHY.

SQUATS for strong glutes. Your glutes are the LARGEST muscles in your body. They are your shock absorbers, your stabilizers, and your foundation. Strong glutes mean less back pain, fewer falls, stronger knees, better posture, and most importantly, the ability to stay independent

PLANKS for a strong core. Harvard says when you can hold a plank for one minute, your back pain will be gone. A strong core supports your spine, your pelvic floor, your bladder, and your hips. Less leaking. Less back pain. Better stability. More confidence in your own body.

PULL-UPS for the ability to lift your own body weight. This one is everything. It builds your back, your shoulders, and your grip

If you can move your own body, you stay independent.
And independence is the whole point of midlife strength.

If you cannot do them yet, you start where you are. Wall squats. Knee planks. Hanging from a bar.

Save this and try all 3 this week.

OK this is officially the weirdest thing I do for my body. And I am NEVER stopping.

I climb into this box almost every single day. On purpose. Not because I love being hot. Trust Me. I get in here because it’s one of the most consistent things I do for my body.

Woops… ran into a slight problem -the airline I’m flying on has a 17.6 Ib carry on weight limit!

That made things a little more complicated but I like a good challenge

I am feeling like a zen, yogi, minimalist granola traveling girl BUT with designer luggage lol

Here is how I also pack my
supplements, skincare and makeup.
We can do hard things! Haha I am determined!

Two summers ago I lost my bags in Europe for 5 days. The bad mood it put me in being so attached to “stuff” was a wake up call.

It crated stress
We wasted time
We had to change our schedule all around bc of “stuff”

Here we were on this beautiful trip and I was focused on my stupid stuff

I decided then and there that I’d never check bag again and I have not since.

We can do it!

I leave next week for two weeks and this is how I’m cramming it all in one small roller bag

I’ll bring a small back pack for makeup, supplements, snacks and lap top
