Balanced and Bright Bone Broth

Balanced and Bright Bone Broth Balanced & Bright Traditional Foods for Health * Wellness * Radiance She founded Quinntessential Cooking in the early part of the 2000’s.

Born and raised in San Diego, Quinn, founder of Balanced & Bright – spent eight years in the interior design industry, only to discover that her true life’s passion had always been in food. Quinntessential Cooking was a small catering and education company specializing in the then budding local food movement. Quinn worked for 2+ years for Suzie’s Farm as their Farm Chef and Sales Account Manager.

Shortly after leaving the produce business she became interested in Traditional Foods as a life style. She began making bone broth regularly at home and saw the direct benefits to her health and wellness within the first 2 weeks of drinking it on a regular basis. It was close to 3 years ago that she decided she would bring bone broth to the mainstream marketplace; making an arduous and time consuming process accessible to everyone. She has designed her bone broth recipe to be an easy to drink tea, versatile in all ways. You can drink her broth hot or cold, sweet, salty or plain. It also slips easily into any recipe that calls for stock or broth. Currently she works full time growing Balanced & Bright Bone Broth out of Carnitas Snack Shack in Del Mar. Quinn also works on occasion as a freelance food stylist and food writer with an emphasis on traditional foods. She has worked on television and print media. Most recently she worked on an international cook book that is set to be published in Spring of 2015. In 2012 Quinn directed and designed a sustainable nutrition program for a local non profit and also wrote a coinciding sustainable nutrition curriculum under the National School Lunch Program. was sweet enough to gift me a 50 year old sourdough starter from San Fran. It took me a week to wrap my head around feeding it and caring for it. I thought I’d try my hand at crumpets this morning with the discard. They are terrible 😂😂😂 Really, really, really terrible.

Anybody else have bleeding and cracked knuckles by now? Not one hand cream in my house was working for me, so I have come up with this:
2 scoops of collagen powder in a mug of bone broth to help your skin stay healthy from the inside out.
The Feet of Endurance is for working feet but has been the only thing that has given me any relief. It’s a natural combination of soothing oils, calendula, arnica, ginger, thyme, and rose geranium, all of which have their own healing properties. You can find it on . For more information on how collagen and bone broth can keep your skin healthy visit our website at www.bonebroth101.com

A few months ago I shared that I had found the perfect kitchen and would be resuming bone broth production as soon as possible.

2 - 3 months into my planning, and a long story later we realized that for a variety of legalities you didn’t even know existed, we could not resume production from this kitchen.

As you might imagine this was quite a blow and put me exhaustingly, back at squats one. I have a plan b in place that will end up working out much better in the long run for broth making, but that place is about a year out from existing.

In the time that I had been in the midst of all my planning, I had been simultaneously working for the Alpha Project.

The Alpha Project is a 30 year old non profit located here in San Diego that specializes in a variety of homeless outreach programs.

Life has a funny way of working itself out and I found myself in a very happy place working for this organization.

So 2 weeks ago I accepted an offer from them to act as their Program Manager for their upcoming Food Program. We are now in charge of feeding 500 people a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

AND I AM GOING TO PUT BONE BROTH IN EVERYTHING.

So, while I’m not following my exact plan, I am doing something I feel is worthwhile and beneficial to those who need it most.

As all of this came to light, I found a letter my Great Grandfather had written to my Mom a year before I was born (pictured above).

40 years later his words could not ring more true.

Thanks for being here.
