Impulse San Diego Impulse San Diego is a non-profit organization raising awareness of safe-sex education among San Dieg

Impulse is a grassroots movement that started in Los Angeles, literally in Founder Jose Ramos’ kitchen. He and his friends, saw a need in the community for more awareness and education around safer-sex and staying healthy. With the support of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Impulse was given an unprecedented platform to accomplish their goals. Now with emerging branches around the world, Impulse is truly making an impact in the community worked so hard to achieve.

AHF Hillcrest Pharmacy will be providing Monkeypox vaccines* before our Fentanyl event on Wednesday, September 21st @ Flicks.

Vaccines will be given on a first come, first served basis starting at 3pm.

AHF Hillcrest Pharmacy is also providing a professional to teach us briefly about Monkeypox.
Get answers to Frequently Asked Questions, learn about risk of transmission, vaccine effectiveness, and what treatment protocols are currently available.

Come learn in a stigma-free environment how to test for Fentanyl in drugs and how to save a life from potential overdose by using NARCAN.

In San Diego County, Fentanyl related deaths increased 202% from 2019 to 2020. Last year the number of local overdose deaths surged 33% — from 976 in 2020 to 1,303 in 2021.

As members of Impulse San Diego, and the LGBTQ+ Community we have personally lost people close to us due to Fentanyl in the past couple of months and years. We want to do everything we can to prevent these early deaths in our community and beyond.

Big Gay Picnic is the largest free gay picnic in Southern California! Join us every second Sunday of the month. This is a potluck style picnic, so bring a sharable dish for 4-6 people….ALL are welcome.

Next picnic: Sunday Feb 13th, 2022
Time: 11:00am to 3:00pm

Thanks to our official sponsor, Impulse San Diego, we have some special surprises this month… They will be providing carnival style games, a taco truck with free tacos for our guests, free Impulse swag, and free HIV testing for anyone interested. It’s going to be huge, so don’t miss it!

What to bring: See Potluck rules below
How to find us: We gather on the 6th Ave side of Balboa Park.
Enter the park at 6th and Upas…Drive just passed Quince St.
You will see our tents and large rainbow flags on the left hand side
Parking: Plenty of side street parking
Dog friendly: Yes (please be responsible and pick up after your fur pals)
Potluck Rules: Bring a small shareable dish such as: potato salad, bags of chips, fried chicken, small sandwiches, spring rolls etc. We do provide a charcoal grill if you choose to bring your own hot dogs or burgers to grill. A decent sharable dish should be for 4-6 people
We provide: Pop-up tent for food area, a charcoal grill & cooking utensils, portable speakers, folding tables & ice chest (additional folding tables & ice chest are always welcome)
We welcome but also provide: Disposable plates, disposable utensils, paper towels, napkins, large trash bags & ice.
Suggested items to bring: Water, a blanket or beach towel, portable chair, beach umbrella, sunscreen
