The tattooing world recently lost a Legend with the passing of Patty Kelley.

We wanted to allow those who knew her best, time to celebrate her life, sharing their thoughts and memories.

But we would be remiss to not express our thoughts, prayers and condolences to and all Patty's friends, family and fellow artists.

was founded by more than 10 years ago, with .ftw and all having worked or guest spotted with us. Much of who we are as a shop today is founded on lessons and principles instilled by Patty, through years of mentoring at Avalon Tattoo.

We hope we can, even in some small way, continue in Patty's legendary footsteps to focus on making great art and sharing tattooing with the world. Legends never truly leave us, especially those who have made such a lasting impact.

King's Head Tattoo is happy to announce that Canadian-American touring tattoo artist Rad Carney is joining us for an extended guest spot. Rad has been tattooing for more than a decade and has just relocated from British Colombia/Washington State to San Diego.

Rad, (Yes, that is his real name), loves doing most styles of tattooing including traditional, geometric, neotrad, blackwork, lettering, and black and grey.

King’s Head Tattoo is EXPANDING our shop. After a significant expansion in floor space and full remodel, we are ready to keep growing and welcome a new member to the team. We are a close-knit shop, with a great atmosphere and an emphasis on custom tattoo work and placing both the artists and our clients first.

We are an old school shop with a great mix of custom work and walk in friendly. Located on Garnet Ave, just west of Ingram Street, we have a great storefront, in a great location, that provides us great opportunities for walk ins, and a laid-back vibe that keeps clients coming back. King’s Head has been in business for more than 10 years and our location has been a tattoo shop for much longer. While the industry struggles, we aren’t going anywhere.

We offer one of the most competitive artist friendly compensation packages in San Diego, that helps our artists take home more of their hard-earned income. Our focus is artists first, ownership second.

We are looking for a full-time artist who is friendly, creative and professional. You must have well established clientele, a solid understanding of what it takes to be successful in today’s challenging market and at least 5 years of experience.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the industry, with lots of artists and shops searching for the right fit, but even in this crazy time, we are still looking to grow. If you are an experienced artist, looking for a new opportunity, who wants to take home more each month… we might be the spot for you.

All of us at are proud to support our sister shop at Tower Tattoo as they continue to grow and look to add another artist to the King's Head / Tower Tattoo family.

Located in the historic Euclid Tower, above the world famous , Tower Tattoo is approaching its one year anniversary under new ownership. If you are interested in becoming part of a small team of artists who are focused on continuing the historic legacy of this iconic San Diego Tattoo shop, please reach out.

We offer some of the most competitive splits in the industry and are an artist first shop.

Looking for an artist with at least 2 years of full-time experience, a solid portfolio, and a strong clientele.

Formal apprenticeship is a plus.

Shop hours and/or appointment only options for the right artist.

This August will be opening as a little sister shop in the historic Euclid Tower, above in City Heights.
