Psycho-oncology = cancer psychiatry = mental health in cancer care

Here are three simple steps if you are struggling with your mental health at any point during your cancer journey.

Step 1: Know that specialty level services for mental health in cancer care exist.

Step 2: Ask your oncologist/palliative care doctor/primary care doctor to refer you to a psycho-oncologist if you are experiencing any psychological or emotional challenges related to your cancer diagnosis (any time from medical workup through remission or recurrence)

Step 3: Know you do not have to navigate this process alone.

I am officially a board certified Psychiatrist ✅

A heartfelt thank you to my and mentors, my colleagues, family, and friends who supported me along the way. This decade+ journey would not have been possible without you, and especially not without my rock, Ben Drolet.

Since I've achieved this, I feel like with time and dedication, I can achieve anything, including changing the way we think about mental health in cancer care.
