Mount Kurama bound. 10th Spiritual Journey to Kurama. Excited for more Reiki students to go deeper

The Great White Dragon King of Mount Kurama

According to local tradition, the Great White Dragon King guards Mount Kurama from a sacred pond high on the mountain. Its waters flow down through the forest, feeding the sacred springs at Kurama-dera and continuing toward Kyoto, bringing the dragon’s blessings to the people below.

This illustration of a Japanese woodblock print of the Meiji era, depicts the dragon watching over the mountain where Mikao Usui received the spiritual experience that gave birth to Usui Reiki Ryoho more than a century ago.

The inscription reads, Mount Kurama — The Dharma-Protecting Deity, Great White Dragon King.

May my travels and spiritual journey be protected and transformational.

From my teacher Brian Brunius -
Today, we honor the birthday of Chujiro Hayashi, one of the important figures in the history and lineage of Reiki.

A student of Mikao Usui, Hayashi played a significant role in carrying Reiki forward. After his training, he established a Reiki clinic in Tokyo in the mid-1920s, where Reiki treatments became known among members of the court, physicians, and the wider community.

Hayashi is also credited with helping to systematize the hand positions commonly used in Reiki practice today and with making the practice more accessible and easier to teach.

His place in our lineage is especially meaningful: it was through Hayashi that Hawayo Takata encountered Reiki, eventually helping carry the practice beyond Japan and into the West.

Today, we remember Chujiro Hayashi with gratitude for his role in preserving, developing, and passing on the practice that continues through our lineage today.
