I admit to experiencing a lot of unnecessary suffering in my life due to the fact that people around me didn't "get me" the way that I wanted them to. π
We all long to be seen and understood. This is just part of being a human. π
It took me a long time to realize, however, that without actually doing the inner work of seeing myself completely, I would not be able to let people know how it is that I'd like to be seen. π³
When I do not express my full self in its entirety, and when I do not do the work of informing others about my own internal experience, I allow them to misperceive me. π€―
How could I get so mad at people for not seeing me when I was not even seeing myself clearly? And without letting people know who I was, how could I ever expect them to connect with me deeply and completely? π€
It is not everyone else's job to figure out who we are for us, and then to be able to treat us as our authentic selves. π¬
It is our job to get to know ourselves, and communicate our needs and desires so clearly that the ones around us could not possibly mistake who we are or what we are looking for. β€βπ₯
And if they do not accept that? Well, that's a whole other discussion. π
Wishing you at least one moment of peace today where you are able to see and honor yourself, just as you are. π
