A quick brainwave test may revolutionize Alzheimer’s detection. Researchers from Bath and Bristol have successfully trialed Fastball EEG, a 3-minute test that uses brain responses to images to identify early memory decline, even before clinical symptoms are obvious. For the first time, this tool was tested in patients’ homes with reliable results, proving its potential as a low-cost, widely available screening method. With breakthrough Alzheimer’s drugs like Donanemab and Lecanemab most effective in the earliest stages, tools like Fastball could help deliver faster diagnoses and open the door to earlier treatment.
