From the beginning, Santana* wrestled with so much fear surrounding her pregnancy. "What if our family doesn’t have enough for the month? What if my baby’s not getting enough nutrients? What if something goes wrong with the pregnancy?" The “what if’s” bombarded her constantly. She was so scared she broke down the first time her client advocate asked to pray for her.

Anya was pregnant for the first time.

She was already stressed out trying to navigate her first pregnancy, but even more so because she couldn't find care anywhere.

"It's unlike my home [country], where the care is on-demand.... The relationship is partnership," she lamented.

She had to jump through so many hoops here. She had to beg to be acknowledged. She had to fight to even be seen, let alone cared for...
