Brenda Zepeda didn't plan on becoming a massage therapist. She became one after years of carrying pain she didn't have words for — and finding, eventually, that her hands were where healing lived.

Today she runs Lakshmi Massage in San Miguel de Allende, working with obsidian hot stone therapy, herbal pindas, postpartum hip-closure massage, and singing bowl sound healing — techniques rooted in a family lineage of traditional Mexican medicine going back generations.

Her philosophy is simple and hard-earned: "I give each massage with the intention of giving it as if I were giving it to myself. Because I am you and you are me."

Before she was a dentist, Dr. Bonnie Rae was a jewelry designer and goldsmith — training the same eye for precision that would later define her practice.

That precision brought her from San Diego to San Miguel de Allende, first as a pandemic detour, then as a permanent home. "Within hours I felt a physical tug on my being," she says of her return, "as if the earth was saying to me, 'You belong here.'"

Today she practices at a rare intersection of sleep medicine and facial aesthetics — treating obstructive sleep apnea with corrective oral appliances rather than lifelong management, alongside facial harmonization work backed by an A4M Institute Fellowship.

Yazbeth Ortiz spent nearly thirty years building a wellness career in the United States before she made a deliberate choice: to come home to Mexico.

What she found waiting wasn't a slower pace as a luxury — it was mindfulness as a cultural default, lived in the ordinary rhythm of daily life. That, she says, was the moment she knew she was staying.

Her own healing runs through her work too: facing an autoimmune diagnosis, she chose to listen rather than suppress, and put her Hashimoto's into remission using the six-pillar framework she now teaches.

The second post in our Raíces series is live — and it's one of the most honest things we've published.

Jonathane Cupido arrived in Sayulita at one of the lowest points of his life. He wasn't a yoga teacher. He wasn't a therapist. He was simply trying to survive.

What he found here — community, energy healing, a yoga practice that became a vocation — rebuilt him. And now he offers that same presence to anyone walking through their own difficult passage.

He is a certified yoga teacher (Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga), a Reiki Master, and trained in Access Bars and Access Facelift. He leads multi-day retreats and works one-on-one with people navigating stress, loss, and emotional disconnection.

"My goal today is to try to help the people who cross my path so that, in turn, they may be able to help someone else."

The first post in our Raíces series is live — and we couldn't have chosen a better place to begin.

Cara Shanti arrived in Puerto Escondido planning to stay six months. Seven years later, she is a certified yoga teacher, somatic therapist, and ceremony facilitator — and she is not leaving.

Her story is about what happens when a place doesn't just change you. It reveals you.

Meet Raíces — The EnForma Wellness Practitioner Series

EnForma was born in Mexico. Raíces is how we tell that story — through the practitioners who came here and never left, and those who were always home. This is where the series begins.

Most wellness routines aren't undone by a bad week, they're undone by what happens the week after, when one missed day gets treated as proof the whole thing failed.

We broke down what actually makes a routine last: starting smaller than feels sufficient, anchoring new habits to ones that already run on autopilot, and building in real support instead of relying on willpower alone.

What actually happens in a past life regression session, and is it worth trying?

QHHT (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique) guides clients into a deep, still state meant to surface what everyday awareness usually keeps just out of reach. It's not therapy, and it's not about proving anything historically true; it's a reflective practice that many describe as offering a kind of clarity they couldn't reach any other way.

In San Miguel de Allende, this work is offered by Fabienne Gauthier, whose practice blends yoga teaching with QHHT sessions, a combination that fits naturally into a town already built around stillness and depth.

Puerto Escondido is quietly becoming one of Mexico's most genuine wellness destinations — and it didn't need a rebrand to get there.

What started as a surf town has grown, organically, into a place where centuries-old temazcal ceremony sits alongside a Gestalt psychologist weaving Toltec healing and Akashic Records work into clinical practice, where foot reflexology and breathwork are as easy to find as a good taco stand, and where the fitness scene has matured from a handful of boutique studios into full gyms and community-driven group training. None of it was assembled for effect, it grew up here, alongside the surf culture and the coastline itself. That's exactly why this Oaxacan town offers something rarer than polish: presence.

Read all five reasons this coastal town is becoming Mexico's next great wellness destination in our wellness journal (link in the comments).
