One of my favorite things I do when I travel is walk into other spa concepts around the world and pay attention.
As a wellness professional, this is my version of continuing education. 🌿
The Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea, Maui was calling my name. Consistently ranked on Travel + Leisure's best hotels in the world list, I was not here for the pool.
I was here for the spa, and it did not disappoint.
The moment we walked in, our spa attendant guided us through the entire hydrotherapy circuit personally. That kind of intentional welcome sets the tone for everything that follows.
Here is what the experience looked like:
Volcanic ash mud that you apply yourself inside a steam sauna, coating your body while the heat opens everything up and pulls it all out.
Three distinct rain showers, including one where you can choose the temperature and the direction of the water hitting you from all sides.
Cold water hydrotherapy that stops you in your tracks and resets your entire nervous system in the best way.
Then came the Hydrafacial.
The esthetician looked at my skin before touching it and built a custom treatment around exactly what I needed after days in the heavy Maui sun.
That level of personalization is what separates a good spa from a great one.
Afterward we settled into the coed relaxation room.
Protein energy balls, dried fruit, hot tea, and lounge chairs that held us gently while we made zero plans to move.
That transitional space is something most spas skip entirely. This one understood that the experience does not end when the treatment does.
This is what nervous system restoration actually looks like. Not just a service. A full journey. 🌺
🏆 Professional Rating: 9.5/10 for intentional design, world class amenities, and a team that genuinely cares about your experience.
I would have loved access to a hot tub and pool as part of the hydrotherapy circuit that would have taken it over the top for me. If you want access to their pools you must stay as a guest it is not included in the spa pass
Have you experienced a hydrotherapy circuit before? Drop it in the comments, I want to know. 👇🏽
