After completing ’s Cycle Healing School, we gained some vital knowledge about the menstrual cycle and how to bring balance in each phase according to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

It was brought to our attention from the epic knowledge drops in CHS that we need to add another contraindication to our steam guidance. With Adrianne’s blessing (thank you sm), we are doing just that! 🫶🏼

In Āyurveda, we can observe that not bleeding enough/bleeding for less than 3 days relates to Vata dosha (scanty bleeds) & the heat of Pitta which can dry out or “burn up” the blood.

It makes sense that if there is not enough blood to move, steam is not the medicine. Instead, pausing and focusing on balancing Agni (digestive fire), adding nourishment, building ojas, making sure you are getting enough hydration, and balancing vata & pitta doshas is the medicine until the imbalance resolves.

These tips are generalized and can’t be applicable to everyone who bleeds for less than 3 days. Book an Āyurvedic consult for more individualized care.��May we all steam safely and wisely 🙏🏼

It’s been a very warm welcome to Texas “Fall” 🎃☀️

We all know how it goes over here. First, there is fake Fall which happened a few weeks back when we could feel a chill in the air. Then, we have what I like to call “late summer”, with days in the upper 80°s and low 90°s. Until we start seeing temps under 65º (what’s that?!), a diet rich in cooling, bitter, and astringent foods is going to help bring balance to any excess heat we may have accumulated over the sweltering Summer months. I definitely have noticed more acne outbreaks in the past couple of weeks, which relates to elevated pitta dosha.

Some ideas for foods to explore: Oats, quinoa, white rice, lentils, fresh cheeses, chicken, coconut, leafy greens, artichokes, asparagus, sweet potato, carrots, butternut squash, summer squash, pumpkin, cherries, apples & pears (eaten as snacks away from other foods) to name a few. Cook with cooling and/or neutral oils like coconut, sunflower, or ghee.
