Half of the top selling supplements sold on Amaz0n do not contain what the label promises, according to testing done by SuppCo, an independent nutritional supplement testing company.
Since nutritional supplements are not regulated by the FDA, you'll often see news reports that expose companies selling online and in discount stores as having NONE of the actual herbs, vitamins or minerals on the labels, and some actually contain toxic ingredients like lead. A recent study finds that half of the supplements being sold in the US are fake: https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/half-of-top-selling-supplements-are-fake.
One huge benefit of buying from your local store is that our brands are all tested and have independent verification of their ingredients and potency. Solaray is an excellent example of a company that goes way above and beyond the industry standards in quality control, testing every single batch of raw ingredients for purity, potentcy and contaminants, as well as every batch of finished products in house. They also use the independent testing company SuppCo, who anonymously buys supplements and tests them.
