Myth: Doulas are only for natural, unmedicated births.

Truth: Birth is not something you can fully plan for, and a doula's job is not to enforce a specific outcome. It is to support you through whatever outcome you actually have.

Epidural. C-section. Induction. A birth plan that changes at the last minute. None of that changes whether you deserve advocacy and support in the room.

That is the whole point!

You packed the hospital bag. You built the crib. But have you planned for your recovery?

Postpartum is not something to figure out at 3 a.m. with a newborn in your arms. Before baby arrives, take a little time to build your support team, so you know exactly who to call for healing, feeding, your mental health, and the days you just need a hand.

Your team might include a postpartum doula, a lactation consultant, a pelvic floor therapist, an osteopathic doctor, and a counselor who understands new motherhood.

Save this for later and send it to a friend who is expecting.

You deserve a plan too.||

Myth: Having a doula means you don’t trust your doctor.

Not at all. Doulas and doctors have different roles, and both can be an important part of helping mom and baby feel supported, safe, and cared for.

Postpartum isn’t about “helping” Mom. It’s about being her partner.

Pick a job. Own it. Pay attention. Take initiative. The little things can take a huge weight off her shoulders.

Doulas help both mom and partner through birth.

Making sure everyone feels involved. Massage techniques to ease tension. Breathing techniques to shift the focus away from pain. Helping mom feel ready and supported to bring her baby into the world.

A doula is not just there for mom. We are there to advocate for the whole family, because this is a group effort.

🎥 New music video, out now!

"It's probably normal."
Wasn't me.

"Google said not to worry."
Wasn't me.

"Babies just arch when they feed."
Wasn't me.

"Push through it, mama, it gets better."
Wasn't me.

"Give it time, it'll go away on its own."
Wasn't me.

She booked with Lumine. That was me.

As a physician, I see this every week. Pain that gets brushed off. Symptoms that get labeled normal instead of investigated. Babies whose feeding struggles get chalked up to "just how they are."

The truth is that pain is not normal. It is information. And you and your baby deserve a provider who actually digs into the root cause instead of handing you a pamphlet and sending you home.

That is the whole reason Lumine exists.

Comment ME and I will send you the link to book. 🤍

Calling all moms who’ve been there.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of questions, and figuring out who should actually be part of your village can feel overwhelming.

So let’s help the mamas coming behind us. 👇

What provider, resource, service, or local business do you wish you knew about when you were pregnant?

Maybe it was your doula, pelvic floor PT, lactation consultant, birth class, photographer, therapist, newborn specialist, favorite mom group, or someone else who made all the difference.

Drop them in the comments and tag them if you can. Let’s build a resource list for pregnant moms in Sandy Springs, North Metro Atlanta, and surrounding communities. 💗

Because motherhood was never meant to happen without a village.
