**MISSION ACCOMPLISHED — CONGRATULATIONS ROGER PLASTER!**

Today, Fusco Freedom Group is proud to recognize **Roger Plaster** on the successful completion of his VA claims journey.

Roger served our country through a long and distinguished Army and Army National Guard career. His service included years in Infantry and Armor, overseas and operational service, and combat service recognized by awards and decorations that include the Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star Medal.

When Roger came to FFG, our mission was clear: thoroughly review his military and medical history, identify the evidence supporting his claims, prepare him for the VA process, and stay with him until the mission was complete.

**Today, that mission is complete.**

Roger has received the VA decision we worked toward, and his claims process with FFG has officially reached the finish line.

Roger, thank you for trusting Fusco Freedom Group to stand beside you through this process. It was an honor to fight for a veteran who spent so many years serving and fighting for our country.

ANOTHER FFG VETERAN WIN!

Congratulations to Donald Smith on receiving a successful VA decision!

Donald came to Fusco Freedom Group ready to fight for the benefits he earned through his military service. Our team reviewed his military and medical history, developed the supporting evidence, prepared him for the VA process, and built a focused Phase 1 strategy.

Mission accomplished.

But this is not the end of the road. We have already completed our post-award review and identified the path forward for Donald's next phase. Our team will continue working with him to develop the evidence and pursue the benefits he has earned.

Donald, congratulations to you and your family. Thank you for trusting Fusco Freedom Group to stand beside you throughout this process.

HONORING VIETNAM VETERAN JOHN ZELLER

Today, Fusco Freedom Group LLC is proud to recognize John Zeller, a United States Army Veteran who served our country in Vietnam.

More than five decades after his service, John trusted us with the responsibility of helping him develop and present his VA claim. That is a responsibility we never take lightly.

For Vietnam Veterans especially, many came home to a country that did not give them the recognition or gratitude they deserved. Their service mattered then, and it still matters today.

John, thank you for trusting Fusco Freedom Group LLC to stand beside you during this process. More importantly, thank you for answering our nation's call and for your service and sacrifice as a Soldier in Vietnam.

From all of us at Fusco Freedom Group LLC — congratulations, and thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your journey.

YOU FOUGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY, NOW LET US FIGHT FOR YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS, JUSTIN TAFT!

Another well-deserved VA victory for one of our Army Veterans!

Congratulations to Justin Taft on the successful outcome of his latest VA claim. Justin trusted Fusco Freedom Group to review his record, identify the evidence, build the claim, and fight for the benefits he earned through his military service.

This is exactly why we do what we do.

But our work with Justin isn't finished. We have already reviewed his updated VA medical records and identified the next path forward. Phase 2 is being developed now as we continue working toward the ultimate goal.

No shortcuts. No throwing claims at the wall to see what sticks. We review the records, identify the evidence, develop each condition individually, and build the strongest factually supported claim possible.

Justin, congratulations on this victory, and thank you for trusting Fusco Freedom Group LLC to stand beside you throughout this process.

YOU FOUGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY, NOW LET US FIGHT FOR YOU.

If you're a Veteran who believes your current VA rating doesn't accurately reflect your disabilities, reach out to us and let us review your situation.

# # CAN MIGRAINES BE SECONDARY TO TINNITUS?

**Yes — but having tinnitus and migraines at the same time does NOT automatically prove a VA claim.**

This is where many veterans misunderstand secondary service connection.

Under **38 C.F.R. § 3.310**, a disability may be service connected when it is **caused by or aggravated by an already service-connected disability**. That means a veteran who is already service connected for tinnitus may potentially establish migraines as a **secondary condition** when the evidence supports the medical relationship.

# # # HOW DOES THE THEORY WORK?

For some veterans, tinnitus isn't simply background ringing.

When tinnitus becomes intense or intrusive, the veteran may experience increased neurological stress, disrupted sleep, difficulty concentrating, or episodes in which worsening tinnitus occurs immediately before or during a migraine attack.

The important question isn't:

**“Can tinnitus cause migraines?”**

The better question is:

**“Does THIS veteran's medical history and symptom pattern support that his or her service-connected tinnitus caused or aggravated the migraine condition?”**

That distinction matters.

VA cases involving this theory specifically examine whether migraines are **proximately due to or aggravated by tinnitus**, and the veteran's reports concerning the relationship between tinnitus intensity and migraine attacks can be relevant evidence.

# # # WHAT SHOULD A STRONG CLAIM CONTAIN?

**1. SERVICE-CONNECTED TINNITUS**

The primary disability should already be established as service connected.

**2. A CURRENT MIGRAINE DIAGNOSIS**

Don't build the entire claim around “I get headaches.”

Get evaluated. Get the condition documented in the medical record. Establish what you actually have medically.

**3. A CLEAR HISTORY OF THE RELATIONSHIP**

The veteran should be able to accurately explain things such as:

* When the migraines began
* How often they occur
* Whether tinnitus increases before or during attacks
* Whether tinnitus flare-ups appear to trigger attacks
* Whether tinnitus interferes with sleep and migraine episodes follow
* How long attacks last
* What the veteran must do when an attack occurs

Consistency between the medical records, Veteran Statement, C&P examination, and other evidence is extremely important.

**4. A MIGRAINE TRACKER**

Don't simply tell VA, **“I get migraines all the time.”**

Document them.

A useful tracker records the **date, duration, severity, symptoms, suspected trigger, whether the veteran had to lie down or isolate, medication taken, and occupational or functional consequences**.

This evidence can be particularly important because establishing service connection and determining the eventual percentage are **two different questions**.

**5. A MEDICAL NEXUS**

This can be the difference between merely showing that two conditions coexist and presenting evidence that explains why they are medically connected.

A strong medical opinion should review the veteran's individual history and explain whether it is **at least as likely as not** that the service-connected tinnitus **caused or aggravated** the migraine condition—and, importantly, explain the medical reasoning supporting that conclusion.

**6. EVIDENCE OF SEVERITY AND FUNCTIONAL IMPACT**

Once migraines are service connected, VA must determine how disabling they are.

That means the evidence should accurately document what happens during the attacks:

**Do you have to stop what you're doing?
Do you have to lie down?
Do you need a dark, quiet room?
Do you experience light or sound sensitivity?
Nausea? Dizziness?
How long are you incapacitated?
How frequently does this happen?
How does it affect your ability to function or work?**

Migraine ratings are evaluated under **Diagnostic Code 8100**, where the frequency and severity of characteristic prostrating attacks—and, at the highest evaluation, their economic impact—become critical considerations.

# # # THE BOTTOM LINE

A well-developed **Migraines Secondary to Tinnitus** claim isn't:

**“I have tinnitus. I also have migraines. Therefore, they're connected.”**

It is a documented chain of evidence:

**Service-Connected Tinnitus

Current Migraine Diagnosis

Documented Pattern of Symptoms and Attacks

Veteran & Medical Evidence

Competent Medical Nexus

Documented Frequency, Severity & Functional Impact**

**The goal isn't simply to file a claim. The goal is to build the evidence necessary for VA to make the correct decision.**

🇺🇸 **VETERANS: A DIAGNOSIS DOESN'T TELL THE VA HOW DISABLED YOU ARE.**

This is one of the most important lessons I explain in my book, **Built to Win: A Veteran's Field Manual to VA Disability Claims, Ratings, and Appeals.**

A lot of veterans believe:

**“I've been diagnosed. It's in my medical records. The VA knows I have it.”**

But that's only part of the equation.

# # # THE VA RATES IMPAIRMENT.

Having a diagnosis and proving the **severity of a disability** are two different things.

When you're seeking the proper evaluation for a service-connected condition, the evidence needs to accurately show things like:

**How often do your symptoms occur?**

**How severe are they?**

**How long do they last?**

**What happens during flare-ups?**

**What can you no longer do normally because of the condition?**

**How does it affect your ability to work?**

**How does it affect your everyday life?**

That's where many veterans unintentionally hurt themselves.

They spend years documenting **WHAT THEY HAVE**...

…but never clearly document **WHAT IT DOES TO THEM.**

Your doctor may know you have migraines.

But do the records accurately document their frequency, duration, and functional impact?

Your records may show a back condition.

But do they document your flare-ups and actual functional limitations?

Your records may show a mental health diagnosis.

But do they accurately reflect how those symptoms affect your ability to work, maintain relationships, and function day to day?

# # # DON'T EXAGGERATE YOUR DISABILITY.

# # # DON'T MINIMIZE IT EITHER.

Document it **accurately.**

Because when your VA claim is reviewed, what matters isn't just the name of the condition.

**It's what the evidence proves about how that condition affects your ability to function.**
