Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is about more than wearing pink. It’s about taking care of ourselves, encouraging the women we love to prioritize their health, and remembering that early detection can save lives.
It’s also a time to honor the strength, courage, and resilience of every mom, sister, friend, and loved one who has fought, is fighting, or is facing the fight against breast cancer.

A few important reminders:

* Stay up to date on recommended mammograms.
* Know your family history and discuss your individual risk with your healthcare provider.
* Be familiar with what is normal for your body, and don’t ignore changes or concerns.

🍂 October is here! Let’s head into fall feeling our best. 🍂

As the weather cools down and we head into the busy fall and winter season, a few simple habits can make a big difference in keeping you and your family healthy:

🩺 Stay up to date on preventive care
If you’re due for your annual physical, routine labs, or screenings, now is a great time to get them on the calendar.

💉 Consider your seasonal vaccines
Flu season is here, so make sure you and your family are up to date on vaccines.

🥗 Keep nourishing your body
Focus on balanced meals, plenty of water, protein, fruits and vegetables, and the nutrients your body needs. Vitamin D and vitamin C are important for normal immune function, so make sure you’re getting adequate amounts—especially if you have a known deficiency.

😴 Prioritize sleep
A consistent sleep schedule and adequate rest are important for your immune system, energy, and overall well-being.

🏃‍♀️ Keep moving
Even as the days get shorter, try to stay active. A daily walk, workout, or simply getting outside can go a long way.

🤠 Fun Fact Friday!

You may know Kendall Kuykendall as the nurse practitioner at Sanger Family Medical Clinic, but there’s a lot more to her than the white coat and stethoscope 🩺

Kendall grew up in 4H/FFA and also rodeoed and showed livestock. Rodeo and agriculture have always been a big part of her life. She credits much of who she is today to growing up surrounded by that community and the people in it. Her love for horses has continued through the years—today she shows reined cow horses, her husband is a team roper, and together they raise cattle. 🐴🐂
