Prevention can start with the small choices we make every day. Choosing a healthier way to cope, spending time with people who support us, setting boundaries, or reaching out when we need help can all make a difference.

When it comes to substance use, there isn’t always one big moment that changes everything. Small, healthy choices can help build habits that support our well-being over time.

Give yourself credit for the positive choices you make—big or small. 💙

Motherhood can bring joy, change, uncertainty, and new responsibilities—all at once. Having people around you who can listen, help, and support you can make a meaningful difference.

Whether it’s asking someone to help with the baby, talking through how you’re feeling, or simply having someone you can lean on, support is an important part of maternal health.

You don’t have to do everything on your own. Let your community show up for you. 💛

Sometimes we notice someone isn’t themselves, but we’re unsure what to say.

You don’t need to have all the answers.

You can simply:

🤍 Check in
👂 Listen
🫂 Let them know you care
💬 Give them space to talk
🤝 Help them find support if they’re ready

A simple conversation can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

And if you’re the one who needs someone to check in on you it’s okay to reach out, too.

Community care starts with showing up for one another.

It takes a village. 🌺

A healthy pregnancy isn’t just about what you eat or how active you are. Having access to healthcare, emotional support, trusted people, and reliable information matters, too.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, talk about how you’re feeling, or lean on your village when you need support.

You deserve support throughout pregnancy and beyond.

When we talk about substance use prevention, the conversation shouldn’t only happen when there is already a problem.

Prevention can start much earlier—with connection, belonging, healthy coping skills, supportive relationships, and spaces where our young people feel seen and heard.

For Pacific Islander communities, community itself can be a source of strength.

Let’s create environments where our youth and families have people they can turn to before they reach a crisis point.

Movement can look different for everyone. 🌺

A walk around the neighborhood, gentle stretching, dancing, or another activity you enjoy can be a simple way to support your well-being during pregnancy.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s finding safe ways to care for your body and your mental well-being.

Talk with your healthcare provider about what movement is right for you.

Our communities carry a lot.

Family responsibilities. Financial stress. Loss. Expectations. Major life changes. Sometimes, we carry these things quietly because we don’t want to burden anyone else.

But when stress becomes overwhelming, some people may turn to substances as a way to cope.

Creating healthier ways to manage stress starts with making space for honest conversations and reminding one another:

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

What helps you reset when life feels heavy? 💙

🎗️ August is Appendix Cancer Awareness Month.

Appendix cancer is a rare but serious cancer, and raising awareness can help shine a light on the need for more research, better treatments, and continued support for those affected.

This month, let’s learn more, share information, and support efforts to advance research toward better treatments—and, one day, a cure.

🔗 Learn more and support appendix cancer research through the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation.
