Osteoporosis can happen earlier than you think—and it’s not just a woman thing either...and if you’re over 40 grab a notepad and pay attention.

The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association found that 28% of men and 26% of women between the ages of 35-50 had osteopenia which is a precursor to osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease where the bones become porous because they lose their bone mineral density (BMD).

People with a low BMD are at increased risk for sustaining a fracture and the associated complications that accompany the event.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation(NOF) about 1 out of every 2 women and 1 in 4 men will break a bone in their lifetime because of osteoporosis.

By 2025, experts project there will be more than 3 million fractures due to osteoporosis 😳

The long term complications of osteoporosis associated with hip fracture can include hospitalization, loss of independence and even mortality.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation estimates that 55% of people over 50 have osteoporosis and 80% of them are women, with a startling 75% of people over age 70 having osteoporosis.

Why is osteoporosis so prevalent?

A huge contributing factor is the consumption of the Standard American Diet (SAD) that consists of overly processed, nutrient-depleted foods that most people in the modern world eat.

Combined with an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, chronic stress and exposure to environmental toxins—it’s the perfect storm for bone degeneration.

Starting EARLY when it comes to protecting your bones is critical so you don’t become a statistic in your later years—at risk for fall, fractures, loss of independence and premature death (—but it’s never too late to start 😉)

Between the ages of 25-30 years we reach our peak bone mass, after about age 40 and every year after that there are only bone mineral withdrawals—that means we are no longer building our “bone bank reserves.”

👉 Women experience an acceleration loss of bone density after menopause 👈

Women lose 1.5-2% of bone density per year in the first 10 years after menopause.

Ask yourself…

🤔 Are you shrinking, losing even just a little more height year by year?

🤔 Is your back starting to round + become more hunched over?

🤔 Is it painful to put weight on your wrist?

🤔 Do your joints creak, crack, catch, swell or get sore?

BTW the health of your bones is so much more than just the density—which is why the fracture rates actually INCREASE after being on osteoporosis meds...read that again.

Your adrenals, thyroid, gut, detox capacity and the type of exercise you do (or don’t) are often left out of the conversation—but are key players in the health of your bones.
