Summer travel is in full swing, and whether you're taking a quick weekend getaway or embarking on a 12-hour flight, it's important to know what happens to your skin in the air.
Most airplane cabins operate at just 10–20% humidity, while healthy skin typically thrives in an environment closer to 40–70% humidity. That dramatic drop can accelerate moisture loss from the skin, leading to dryness, tightness, irritation, and a dull complexion by the time you land.
Research has shown that long-distance air travel can cause a rapid decrease in skin hydration, helping explain why your skin may feel uncomfortable or dehydrated after a flight.
Before your next trip, consider packing a hydrating moisturizer, lip balm, sunscreen, and of course, don't forget to drink plenty of water.
Your skin travels too. ✈️

Summer means more sunshine, more time outdoors, and more opportunities to check in with your skin. It also means being sun-smart.
While sunscreen remains one of the most effective tools for protecting your skin, it’s equally important to be aware of any new or changing spots. Pay attention to moles that evolve over time, lesions that don’t heal, or areas that begin to itch, bleed, or look different from the rest.
When detected early, skin cancer is highly treatable. If something doesn’t look or feel right, schedule an appointment with us for a professional skin evaluation.
Your future skin will thank you. ☀️

“Tan-maxxing” is the latest social media trend encouraging people to maximize their sun exposure in pursuit of a darker tan.
What’s particularly concerning is that some creators are using the UV Index as a tanning guide. The UV Index was designed to help people understand when UV radiation is strongest and when extra sun protection is needed, not as a tool for optimizing a tan.
Here’s the truth: a tan is not a sign of health. It’s a sign that your skin has been injured.
When your skin darkens, it’s responding to UV radiation by producing more melanin in an attempt to protect itself from further damage. That bronzed glow is actually evidence of cellular damage occurring beneath the surface.
While a tan may fade, the DNA damage accumulates over time, contributing to premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and an increased risk of skin cancer.
Your skin remembers every sunburn, every tanning session, and every “just this once.”
Protect it accordingly. ☀️

Heading into Memorial Day weekend? Don’t let UV rays steal your collagen. ☀️
Sun exposure does more than cause sunburns. UV damage accelerates collagen breakdown, contributing to wrinkles, laxity, and visible signs of aging.
SPF isn’t just skincare. It’s collagen care.
Have fun, wear sunscreen, and reapply often. 🤍
