Sand Hills, if you know you know!
Special thanks to John R, John F, and Buddy H for the trip of a lifetime! With only 170 members, a 4 month playing window, and a limited handful of tee times offered per day, I was incredibly fortunate to play this immaculate course!
With the nearest city ten miles away populated by 500 people, this stunning Nebraska location was remote from any worries or stress; no cell service, no on-call pages, only peace. The rolling hills in all directions were reminiscent of an impressionist painting, with thunder clouds off in the distance filling the sky with the occasional flash of lightning.
Our plane landed in Los Angeles on Saturday at exactly 8am, and we were boarded and wheels up by 8:05. We were teeing off by early afternoon, had an amazing steak dinner, got some rest, back on the course for another 9am round, then home again for Sunday dinner!
The undulating greens and false fronts made for a unique challenge, but the pure tranquility of looking in 360 degrees from the top of a hill, not seeing a soul in site, no buildings or cell towers or traffic… just vast beauty, was truly remarkable.
