Excited to share an important milestone for Rubato: our NIH-supported dementia study with University School of Public Health is officially underway!

Last week, our teams kicked off on-site work at John Clarke Senior Living. Led by PI Ellen McCreedy, PhD, this study evaluates how physiological signals can help care teams recognize changes associated with agitation and determine when personalized music may be helpful.

We’re especially grateful to Ellen McCreedy, Emily Kane, Director of Nursing Services at John Clarke Senior Living, our collaborators at Brown University, and the participating care teams.

The WHO’s newly updated guidelines on reducing the risk of cognitive decline and dementia reinforce an important direction in dementia care: interventions should increasingly be personalized, multidomain, and adapted to the needs of the individual.

At Rubato, this strongly resonates with how we think about personalized, non-pharmacological care — including the importance of finding music that is meaningful to each person rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

The evidence base continues to evolve, but the direction is increasingly clear: personalization matters.

As healthcare continues to advance toward truly personalized care, data and AI are becoming essential to improving both clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.

Through its integration with Rubato, enables to deliver a scalable, AI-powered music intervention designed to support residents living with dementia. By helping residents regulate agitation through personalized, data-driven music programs, facilities can reduce behavioral escalations, decrease caregiver burden, and provide meaningful non-pharmacological support fully embedded within the clinical workflow and automatically documented within the EHR for reimbursement.
