Ever wondered what the nerval connection between your brain and your arms looks like? You can see it in this awesome photograph of the so called brachial plexus :)

The brachial plexus is responsible for cutaneous and muscular innervation of the entire upper limb except for the trapezius muscle and an area of skin near the axilla. It is the pathway for every informational exchange between your brain and the muscles of your arms and hands.

Lesions thus of course lead to severe functional impairment of the upper extremity. Cutting the brachial plexus would be like cutting a cable to an electric device, no information from the brain/power supply would reach the device.

The brachial plexus is divided into Roots, Trunks, Divisions, Cords, and Branches. It makes it kind of rough to learn but the organization of this nerval structure is amazing!
